Quick start guide

NOTE: Use only the power adapters (or equivalent)

supplied with your VTech telephone.

STEP 1 Install the telephone base and
chargers
Plug the connector into the power jack at the bottom
of the telephone base and chargers, then plug the
power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled
by a wall switch.
Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the
telephone line jack at the bottom of the telephone
base. Then plug the other end of the cord into the
modular wall telephone outlet.

STEP 2 Install and charge the battery

Remove battery compartment cover by pressing on
the indentation and sliding downwards.
Align the two holes in the plug with the socket pins
according to the color-coded label in the battery
compartment, then snap the plug into place.
Place the battery into the compartment.
Position the battery compartment cover and slide it
upwards until it clicks into place.
Put the handset in the telephone base or the charger
to charge the new battery for at least 16 hours.
The CHARGE light on the telephone base or
charger will be on when the handset is properly
positioned. Refer to the Troubleshooting section
in the users manual if the CHARGE light is not on.

STEP 4 Activate the answering system

The ANS ON/OFF must be on (the button light will
be on) in order for the machine to answer calls and
record messages. If the button light is off then calls
will not be answered.
To turn on/off the answering system, press
ANS ON/OFF to choose between on and off.
Use the volume control button on the telephone base
to adjust the volume at anytime during the setup
procedure.
STEP 5 Outgoing announcement
An outgoing announcement is the message callers hear
when calls are answered by the answering system.
The telephone is preset with an announcement that
answers calls with Hello, please leave a message after
the tone. You can use this default announcement, or
replace it with your own.
To record your own announcement:
Press ANNC while in idle mode, and the system says
Announcement, press play or press announcement
again to record a new announcement.
Press ANNC again and the system announces
Record after the tone, press STOP when you are
done.
After the tone, speak towards the microphone at the
bottom front of the telephone base from about nine
inches away.
Press /PLAY/STOP when fnished.
The answering system will automatically playback the
newly recorded announcement. Press /PLAY/STOP
to stop the playback at any time.

STEP 3 Make, receive and end calls

Make a call
Press /FLASH or

to ensure there is a dial
tone, then dial the telephone number.

To predial (view number before dialing):
Dial the number (press MUTE/REMOVE to make
corrections, or press and hold REDIAL/PAUSE to
insert a dialing pause).
Press /FLASH or

to use the speakerphone.
Receive a call
Press /FLASH or to answer an incoming
call.
End a call
Press OFF/CLEAR or put the handset back in the
telephone base or charger.

The telephone base settings (ringer melody,
ringer volume, change remote access code,
clear voicemail and reset to default settings)
can be changed using the handset, please see
the users manual for complete instructions.

PASO 1 Instale la base del telfono y los
cargadores
Enchufe el conector en la conexin elctrica en
la parte posterior de la base del telfono y en los
cargadores, despus enchufe el adaptador de
corriente en un contacto elctrico que no est
controlado por un interruptor en la pared.
Enchufe un extremo del cable de la lnea telefnica
en la conexin de la lnea telefnica en la parte
posterior de la base del telfono. Despus enchufe
el otro extremo de este cable en el contacto del
telfono modular de la pared.
PASO 2 Cmo instalar y cargar la pila
Retire la cubierta del compartimiento de las pilas
oprimiendo sobre la ranura y deslizndola hacia
abajo.
Alinee los dos orifcios en el tomacorriente con las
terminales del enchufe de acuerdo con la etiqueta
con los cdigos de colores en el compartimiento de
la pila, despus conecte el enchufe en su sitio.
Coloque la pila en el compartimiento.
Coloque la cubierta del compartimiento de la pila en
su lugar y deslcela con frmeza hacia arriba hasta
que quede en su sitio.
Coloque el auricular en la base del telfono o en el
cargador para cargar la pila nueva durante por lo
menos 16 horas.
La luz de CHARGE (carga) en la base del telfono
o en el cargador estar encendida cuando el
auricular est colocado apropiadamente. Consulte
PASO 4 Cmo activar el sistema para contestar
llamadas
El botn de ANS ON/OFF debe estar encendido (la
luz del botn estar encendida) para que la mquina
pueda contestar llamadas y grabar mensajes. Si la
luz del botn est apagada, las llamadas no sern
contestadas.
Para encender/apagar el sistema para contestar
llamadas, oprima ANS ON/OFF para seleccionar
entre encendido y apagado. Use el botn de control
de volumen en la base del telfono para ajustar
el vol umen en cual qui er momento durante el
procedimiento de confguracin.
PASO 5 Anuncio saliente
El anuncio saliente es el mensaje que las personas
que llaman escuchan cuando las llamadas son
contestadas por el sistema para contestar llamadas.
El telfono est activado en la fbrica con un anuncio
que contesta las llamadas con Hello, please leave
a message after the tone (Hola. Por favor deje un
mensaje despus del tono). Usted puede usar este
anuncio, o reemplazarlo con uno propio.
Para grabar su propio anuncio:
Oprima ANNC mientras est en modo inactivo,
y el sistema dir Announcement, press play
or press announcement again to record a new
announcement (Anuncio, oprima PLAY u oprima
de nuevo ANNC para grabar un anuncio nuevo).
Oprima de nuevo ANNC y el sistema anuncia
Record after the tone, press STOP when you are
done (Grabe despus del tono, oprima STOP
cuando termine).
Despus del tono, hable hacia el micrfono ubicado
en la parte de abajo del frente de la base del
telfono desde una distancia de nueve pulgadas.
Oprima /PLAY/STOP cuando haya terminado de
grabar.
