How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? The opportunity to use the equipment and software which media professionals would use for their own products has enabled me to construct my products to a high skill. Although we had the small budget of five pounds, which we did not even have to spend, we were able to apply our developed skills of editing, camera work and sound effects to create media texts to the best of our abilities (sadly we have not reached professional standards yet). Despite this we managed to use our knowledge of the media industry to apply generic conventions of specific products essential to our work.

Each one of these programmes helped improve my work in some form and I believe I would have been disadvantaged if I did not use even one of them in my work. Photoshop and Premiere Pro are the top most important software as it was I used them the most to develop my main product and ancillary texts, although Youtube and Google chrome were valuable use for my research. As I used Photoshop at AS I am familiar with the programme but since A2 I now feel confident with using the software. I can now apply skills which I have learnt in A2 to my own work which appeared out of my ability last year. Last year it took me a whole three months to construct my magazine front cover, dps and contents it only took a matter of days to complete my ancillary texts due to my progress. In the future I would like to experiment with more complex tools to maximise to represent my products as professional as probable, such as the lighting contrast which I particularly found difficult as I struggled to reach a conclusion where I was happy with my product. This term was the first time I had encountered Premier Pro which made me rather anxious, but I thoroughly enjoyed the editing process of my trailer. I was able to cut the clips of footage and sound files to my choice, add transitions and titles and alter the speed and duration of the files. Unfortunately some of our sound files were in insufficient and distorted so we had to re-record some dialogue. This led to then importing these new sound files and fitting them accurately to the video, which was difficult, but possible. Youtube enabled me to search for horror trailers to analyse which helped me identify generic conventions of horror which I could then apply

How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? to my own work. I also used Youtube to upload the first draft of my trailer onto to enable my peers to give constructive feedback. The feedback was filmed and also uploaded to Youtube to help remind us, as editors, what needed altering in order to suitably fit the briefing. I used survey monkey and Microsoft word to create questionnaires and receive feedback on the topic of market research - target audience and the horror genre. These results helped my group and me to apply our results as best as we could to our products. Flickr was used in my research to annotate real examples of media texts; horror posters and film magazines. This was a quick method in analysing media texts which also concluded in a further understanding of technical conventions featured in these professional products, which then gave me a clear idea of how to shape my ancillary texts. For the deliberation of my coursework Blogger was central in relation of recording and publishing. It allowed me to present my work through a variation of different such as Prezi, Scribd, Flipsnack, Photobucket and Issuu. These have all contributed in representing my work as professional and exciting compared to simple blog posts. Labelling my posts was important as it helps me distinguish and identify different sections of my coursework and viewers of my blog to easily navigate my page. I also find it useful how I can easily embed videos straight onto my blog. An extra area I used social networking via twitter to distribute my ancillary products to my peers as revenue of feedback. I thought this was important as my peers in class were of course media students, so to get a wider spread opinion I opted to aim for the opinions of my friends and general public who did not study the media to reach a larger sample.

Using search engines to for research, editing software to manipulate their original products and social networking site and blogs to publish the final products.
