Nyquist plots Figure presents the Nyquist plot for Co3O4/MWCNT nanocomposite electrodes immersed in 2M KOH [Link] rst intersection point on the real axis at the highest frequency shows a series resistance of cells (Rs ) that generally originates from solution resistance in the electrolyte, separator and external circuit [Link], Rs is mainly attributed to the resistance of electrolytes. to the lower resistance. The semi-circle present at high frequencies is associated with the interfacial resistance between electrode and electrolyte. At medium frequencies, a straight line with a slope of 45 appears and this impedance reects the ion diffusion phenomena in the porous structure. Subsequently, Co3O4/MWCNT nanocomposite electrodes behave like a capacitor which is characterized by the vertical line at low frequencies.
Bode plot
Rs + Rbulk + Rint = 1.526 k
Rs + Rbulk = 0.759
Rs = 0.628
V (Cdl ( 7mF @ 7 mHz ) ( 6.5 F @10 kHz )
The Bode plots shown in Fig. describe the resistance and capacitance as functions of the frequency. In Fig. (a), three distinguishable resistances, which are independent of frequency, exist both curves Specically, the resistance at the high frequency range shows
mainly the value of Rs while the Faradaic leakage or charge transfer resistance from bulk electrolytes (Rbulk ) appears at the medium frequency range between 15 Hz and 15 kHz. The low frequency range between 10 mHz and 1 Hz includes Rint caused by interfacial processes, and represents the summation of bulk Rs , Rbulk and Rint . On the other hand, Fig. 7 (b) demonstrates the frequency dependence of the capacitance. The capacitance reaches its maximum at the low frequency because the ions have sufcient time to reach to the pores and then form the double layer on the electrode surface. The value of capacitance at the lowest frequency represents the overall capacitance at the double layer interface (Cdl ). The capacitance is around 7 mF for aqueous 2M KOH electrolyte .As the frequency increases, the contribution of C decreases due to insufcient ion transport, and the major contribution changes to partial capacitance from bulk electrolytes process (C dl ) measured as 6.5 F at 10 for 2M KOH electrolyte.
