FROM THE PASTOR
CHURCH WARMTH I once heard a leader of a major denomination, speak on evangelism. He describes a morning he spent in one of the large churches of his denomination. He attended the morning service, and even went to the coffee hour. Apart from the pastor with whom he had some business to transact, not one person spoke to him! . Contrast this to another experience I had. My wife and I went one Sunday to worship in a large, growing church near Boston. Before the service, we went to the rest rooms and I came out first. I walked around the vestibule looking to see if my wife was there. The whole space was crowded with people and I was on the outskirts. But one usher, gazing around the throng, noticed my inquiring glance and made his way quickly through the people with his hand out to greet me. Good morning, he said. Welcome to our church. In the midst of all those milling people, he had picked me out as someone who needed help. Believe me, I was impressed. I realized one of the reasons the church is growing is because they care. They are genuinely interested in making folks feel at home. (Copied) Roger New Teaching Series Leadership Today, your child will learn that good leaders are people that make choices for God that arent always popular. When David came to fight Goliath, his older brother Eliab wasnt happy about it. But, David knew it was more important to do what God told him to do than to let his brother talk him out of it. Bottom Line: Dont let criticism stop you.
