Introduction:
Need of an honest leader NOW a days our country face many problems like poverty, corruption and many more peoples are trying to finish these problems but in my view to finish these problems we need a honest leader that have spirit to work for his nation and to finish the problems of his nation. The purpose of my this work is to review some of the great leaders in history and to identify the main lessons of leadership that can be learnt from them leaders are needed in all fields and all levels to give the direction to their nation. I want to identify the main responsibilities, duties of the leaders which make the leader successful and qualities of leaders through which he can unite his nation. I have come across these books on the topic of leadership High Quality Leadership, Fast Forward Leadership, Inspiring Leadership In these books qualities, duties and examples of good leaders are mention but now we need a leader who have these qualities and who fulfill his duties and leads his nation towards unity and success. We have hard working, intelligent and talented people in our country but when they found no leader or no opportunities to show their talent they move towards other counties and start working for them. We need a leader who work for our country honestly and solve the problems of people of his nation and work for nation without thinking his any personal benefit and provide opportunities to the people that they can work for their own country and lead their country towards success instead of leaving their country.

Leadership is all about making more and better from less. Leadership is the process of improving changing and learning. According to john Harvey-Jones Leadership is the ability to elicit extraordinary performance from ordinary Peoplei To explain the concept of leadership in simple and clear words Dwight Eisenhower, president of USA said The art of leadership is getting somebody else to do something you want done Because he wants to do it. The science of leadership cannot be learnt from reading a book or being thought in classroom and then practiced in a mechanical fashion but it is an individual and personal ability that is born and is evident in some, but it can be developed in others who have the will and potential it is an individual expression of long established principles that have not changed as human nature has not changed over the millennia. According to Jeremy Toner Leadership is of the spirit, compounded of Personality; its study a science and its practice an art Leadership is not a skill in itself, but a combination of skills and personal qualities And the use of tools that can be developed and can be applied with thoughts and common sense. 1

Leader:
Leader is a person who gives the right direction to his nation. Lao Tze sums up the need for a leader to build his or her subordinations self-esteem by achieving the tasks set. He also touches on mutual respect that is vital part of building trust. Lao TZE said: A leader is best when people barely know that he exists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worst when they despise him: fail to honor people, they fail to honor you: but of a good leader, who talks little when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will all say, we did this ourselves. On the importance of leader he also said that: Leader is a person responsible for achieving objectives through the work of others and for building and maintaining the team that he or she is part of. It was Socrates who first taught that leadership tends to be exercised by the person who knows what to do in given situation. Consequently he placed much emphasis upon the need to acquire the appropriate technical competence and experience if one wished to leads others. But knowledge is not whole story. There are people who are technically competent and highly specified, yet they are not recognized as leaders something more is required. As a experience of Xenophon suggests ,a good leaders give direction ,sets an example, shares danger or hardship on an equal footing ,wins h willing support of others .He should win respect without popularity . The definitions of leadership and leader mentioned above helps us to understand the further chapters .BY these definitions the concept of leadership and leader become more clear .now in next chapter I will mention the qualities and duties of leader which make him successful and great.

Qualities of leader duties:
There are some qualities of leaders which make the leaders successful:
Knowledge:
Leadership is a great responsibility and to fulfill this important duty the leader must continuously acquire knowledge. Knowledge is power and any leader who wishes to excel his/her leadership prowess must acquire knowledge. Knowledge is one of the major reasons which determine the rise and fall of civilizations and their leaders
Sound Judgment:
Sound judgment and justices is most important quality of leader. Without the justice it is not possible to become a great leader. Leader should not make decision in favor of one party due to relationship and not favor rich .HE should make decision by justice on the basis of listening the matter from both parties and he should always favor truth.
Communication skill:
Leaders must be able to speak effectively Clarity is a theme mentioned here because it prevents wasted efforts and overcome aim. It promotes the use of initiative and decisiveness because people understand how they fit into the theme of things .It promotes understanding and effective relationships to trust.
Be straight:
Leader should be honorable and reliable; be just and fair; dont say one thing and do other; avoid sarcasm and criticism.
Be honest:
Leader should not give misleading statements, steal or acquire properties, recognition and ideas of others, do not fiddle expenses or tax returns; do not buy obviously stolen property on cheap rates .

Be humble:
Leader must have quality of Confess and own up to his own errors and do not blame others; do not boast or make snide remarks ;be generous in victory and defeat ;think of service to others not self place his own interest least .
Be sincere:
Leader should be entirely his self, honor his flats and be prepared to admit them and try to correct them people tends to follow sincere leaders.
Be reliable:
Ensure that he keep to his words ,honor any promises or guarantees that he had made;and ensure he meet the expectations that other peoples have with you.
Be loyal:
Leaders must be loyal to his country like wise must loyally support the decisions or action of others and peers if they are to retain their trust.
Charisma:

Example of leaders from history:
To be a great leader in the historical sense there are three requirements: a great nation, a great necessity a man of great natural leadership ability. There are very different styles of leadership, related to individual personalities, nations and cultures. They can be equally effective in giving a strong direction for people to follow. History is full of the examples of great leaders. I will mention few of them and their qualities which make them great and successful.
Abraham Lincoln:
As the life of Abraham Lincoln show a great leader is one who has the spirit and dignity of character .Lincolns chief as a leader was his clarity of vision .Before his inauguration as a president in may 1861,the outgoing democratic government as already decided that it had not power to prevent any state from the union Lincoln judged that slavery was an issue which time and common sense would solved .but once the union was gone it would most probably never returned North America could become like Europe, a continent torn with disunity ,jealousy ,economic rivalry and wars. He made His aim crystal-clear in a famous letter to Horace Greeley ,editor of the New York Tribune: MY paramount in this struggle is to save the union ,and it is not either to save or destroy slavery .if I could save the union without freeing any slave ,I would do it ;and if I could do it by freeing all the slaves ,I would do it ;and if I could save it by freeing some, and leaving others alone, I would do that. Thus Lincoln gave the northern state a clear aim .his strong and dignified countenance, deeply lined and touched by melancholy ,imparted a clam assurance ,and a proper sense of the tragedy of his war b/w brothers trough all doubt and darkness ,the danger and long tempest of the war wrote William Makepeace Thackeray I think it was only the American leaders indomitable soul that remained entirely steady

Despite his burdens as president and commander-in-chief during a war between two states, he found time for individuals .there is perhaps no better expression of his tender humanity then he wrote to one victim of the civil war. Named Mrs. Bixby The latter was I have been shown in the file of the war department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless the words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming: but I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly father may assuage the anguish of you bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the love and lost and the solemn pride that must be yours to have lid so costly a sacrifice on the altar of freedom Respectfully, Abraham Lincoln That appeal to Christian faith by Lincoln sincere .Lincoln drew deeply upon the Christian tradition in the style of leadership he chooses to exercise. His simple trust of God, and humility before him as the disposer of all things, gave him firmness and generosity of spirit .The great accomplishment of America under Lincolns leadership was the preservation of the union. An assassins bullet killed Lincoln as the war become closer .Alas, great leaders have so often become lightning conductors for all hatred ,malice and envy that lurks in frustrated souls .Lincoln left America a great legacy as far as leadership is concerned .He gave it an enduring example of what it means to be a great leader in a Republic Lincolns best epitaph is in his own words, which reflects the fields and forms of his boyhood days: Die when I may ,he said I want it said of me by those who k new me best, that always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow.

There are many other leaders in history who known for his leadership qualities As Gandhis example reminds us the importance of a leader staying close to the people and representing their greatness of spirit
Nelson Mandela has shown the world that a Lofty and courageous spirit enables a leader to bear trouble calmly, to disdain meanness and revenge, and to make sacrifices for worthy ends. It can also alter mood of nation.

Recommendations for leader:
To become a great and honest leader it is highly recommended to leaders that they learn the lesson from leaders of history that what qualities make them successful and as well as the mistakes of leaders which are the bridge in the way of their success. It is most important to lean lessons from success, hardworking and failures of others, then a leader would be able to apply these qualities and avoid mistakes which make him successful.
VISIT the past in order to know present
Equality:
A leader should be able to place himself on an equal on an equal footing with the others involved, rely upon their authority of knowledge and personality to gain respect. Leader should be able to understand the problems of people of their nation. And solve them. Leader should be accessible for every one so that he can solve the problems of all without difference of rich and poor.
Dutiful:
Leader must should be dutiful and have to fulfill their responsibilities. HE must possess communication capability so clear and concise Leaders must worry about attracting and retaining good staff innovative incentive plans
Honesty: should
be required for the success full leadership from upcoming leaders
It is recommended they work for the country honestly and leads the nation towards success.
Development skills:

Leaders must have development skills that he can work for the development of his country. and use the resources of country in right way for the development of the country and should know that which work can give more result.
Unity:
We need a leader which can unite the nation and lead them towards success. Alas now days we have leaders who are not unite .They not thought about the benefit of country .we need leader who work for country and unite the nation.
Its now or never:
Innovative leaders who have long view are not sitting to see what the future will bring they are exchanging old thinking patters and behaviors for new ones .leader should work with strong determination that he have to hard work now

Success of every nation based upon honest leaders. Great leaders can make the nation great. There are many qualities of leaders mention above we need leaders which have these qualities. There are many examples of leaders who solve the problems of their nation with their leadership qualities. we also need these types of leaders for the success There are different types of leadership, related to individual personalities, nations and cultures in history ,they can be equally effective in giving a strong direction for people to follow We are facing many problems not because of lack of resources we have a lot of resources and talent in our country but we have not honest leaders who use these recourses in right way and work for our country. We need leader who work honestly and solve the problems of our nation with thinking about his personal benefits Leaders who have quality to work for the development and leads our nation towards success and who do justice and work for the whole nation with difference of rich and poor so whole nation . May almighty Allah give us leaders who work honesty for their nation and lead us towards success
