My to)ic relates to the 0ational *istory Day theme' Rights and Res)onsi#ilities in *istory' #ecause it was vital that African Americans stand u) for what they #elieved was fair% Sit-ins and Freedom rides were a non-violent way for them to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the way they were #eing treated% The first section of the constitution states1 all men are created e2ual under god% Contrary to what the constitution stated though' if you were an African American living during the 3456s to 3476s' you would (now that e2uality was not a way of life for all% 8ven though the constitution gives us a natural right of e2uality' if )eo)le do not stand #y it1 it means nothing%
