Going for a Holiday Every year thousands of Malaysians travel all over the world to go on holiday. It is very exciting experience to travel to places that are filled with different culture, beautiful scenery, as well as observing how people from different places live everyday life. But it is surprising to see how many Malaysians not taking advantage of the many world famous tourist attractions we have here in our own country. A very good example is the state of Sabah; also known as the land below the wind. This state offers many types of holiday adventures. At over 4000 metres above sea level is Kinabalu Park. Here, you will find the magnificent Mount Kinabalu. For those of you who are afraid of heights, there is always sandy fun at the many beaches and islands located in the state. With many different ethnic groups in Sabah, you will be greeted with different cultures, various types of food, customs and traditional dances. For those of you who are adventurous, Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in South East Asia at 4095 metres above sea level. It is recommended that a trip should take at least 3 days. On the first day, climbers go up to the Kinabalu Park. There, they will be spoilt for choice with the many hiking trails rich with flora and fauna. Early on the second day, the climb will begin at the Timpohon gate to Laban Rata rest house which is 3270 metres above sea level. At Laban Rata, they rest until about 2 oclock in the morning. Now, they will continue climbing to Lows peak which is the mountains highest peak. Climbers are told to reach the peak by 5am to watch an amazing sun rise. Climbers will then climb down to Laban Rata and continue down to the park. Once leaving the park, many climbers will usually stop at Poring Hot Spring for a relaxing dip before going back down to Kota Kinabalu town. Sabah is only one of the many states that offer great holidays in Malaysia.
