As I was looking into potential topics that sparked my interest in this project the My Lai Massacre certainly caught my eye! I "irst learned about the My Lai massacre in my American #istory class! $ven though my teacher only brie"ly discussed about the massacre I saw the subject in the paper o" topics and decided to learn more about this certain subject! %he topic struck a string o" emotion and grie" in my gut when I read about the &ietnamese murdered in cold blood! It was such a power"ul personal subject' I "elt it was my need to bring such an in"amous topic that stirred the country out in the light once more! I started my research on the Internet gathering use"ul primary and secondary sources! I watched o""icial documentaries getting mysel" entirely immerse in the topic at hand! $ven though the Internet is an easy access to sources I decided to "ind books relating to the subject at my local library! I made sure to take notes on all the in"ormation I "ound use"ul! I also interviewed Dr! (endrick Oliver )ro"essor o" American #istory who is the author the book %he My Lai Massacre in American #istory and Memory was very vital to my research! Dr! (endrick Oliver co*convenes at the Institute o" #istorical +esearch ,S #istory Seminar in London! -rom .//0 to ./11 he served as a "ounding member o" the steering committee o" #istorians o" the %wentieth*2entury ,nited States! During the interview he said 3%he proportion o" Americans "or and against the war changed very little a"ter the news o" the massacre broke!4 %his was important because it brought attention to how the citi5ens o" America actually viewed the My Lai massacre! I thought a website would be a much more convenient way to showcase all the in"ormation I gathered easily! -irst I wrote an essay on the My Lai massacre to summari5e what I have learned! I then pulled in"ormative parts o" the paper to add onto my website which I created using Weebly! It was entertaining making the website come to li"e with "acts and

documents on my subject! I enjoyed making the website my own creation customi5ing the design to suit my needs! %he whole developing process was simple and not in the least bit "rustrating! My project relates to the 6#D theme because it provides insight that the ,S soldiers and government o""icials should have taken responsibility "or their inhuman actions done at the village o" My Lai! %hey should have taken responsibility "or the lives that were unlaw"ully lost by their hand! As a ,S Soldier you have a right to protect the precious lives o" children women and men! #owever the soldiers who participated in the massacre used their right unjustly and took away many lives instead o" saving them!
