DIY Quilted Sewing Machine Cover Tutorial

This tutorial explains how to make a quilted cover for a sewing machine. It requires fabric squares, batting, binding and lining fabric. The squares are sewn together in diagonal rows and backed with batting to form the charm square panel. Side panels are also quilted and attached to the charm square panel to form the cover shape. Before Christmas I made this sewing machine cover - I think it's one of my favourite projects to date.

17K I needed one as I don't !ike using the hard cover that came with my "anome. I cou!dn't find a tutoria! I !iked# so I made this up as I went a!ong. I was so engrossed that I didn't take many photos of the step $y step process. It's rea!!y easy# so I'!! e%p!ain how I made it. &ou need' - one charm pack or () % *+ s,uares - one metre -yard. of coordinating fa$ric for side pane!s and !ining - 1.* metres -*/+. $ias $inding - one metre -yard. $atting -cotton or po!yester - I used a cheap po!yester as I won't $e washing this often.

Back the side pane!s with $atting and ,ui!t as desired. 4. 3ew the side pane!s at the seam across the midd!e of the charm pane!# with right sides together. 5hen you !ay it out# it wi!! !ook !ike the diagram a$ove. ). 6in the side pane! to the charm s,uare pane!. &ou wi!! have the shape of the cover. 3titch up the sides. *. 3ew the !ining pieces the same way. 7. 6!ace the !ining inside the e%terior piece# wrong sides together. 7. 6in $ias $inding in p!ace around raw edge# and stitch in p!ace. 8inished1

Fabric details' 9y charm s,uares were from a pack of :a!f 9oon 9odern $y 9oda# they were a gift to me in a swap from ama2ing ,ui!ter :eather. I on!y used the charms in the a,ua# red and grey co!ours.
