PREFACE

Computers are revolutionizing every aspect of our life. Computers have made great
in roads in our life and thinking. They are put to use all sorts of application ranging
form complex. Calculations in the fields of front line research engineering
simulation down to teaching, printing books and recreational games in which
the computer can process data store and retrieve it painlessly.

We need more of man power. All that inspired me to course of [Link](Software).

This report has been prepared for very essential purpose of modern. This system
will maintain the relationship between friends and self relationships. This Report
describe the full life cycle of this project.

In chapter 1: There is a detail introduction of ATM. That will help in understanding

the meaning, purpose, way to use, why there is a necessary of ATM.

In chapter 2: There is a description of current system, proposed system and

feasibility study.

In chapter 3: There are data base design & module charts to know how it works. We
will explain dataflow diagrams to see the flow of data.

In chapter 4: There are snapshots of program with brief description of user manual,
validation checks on form, testing on forms.

In chapter 5: We will discuss about implementation & maintenance of our system.

In chapter 6: We will discuss about testing that has been done on system in each
level.

Introduction of ATM

Modern age is computer age. Due to computerization of everything, the approaches

towards system that are handled manually are now becoming less demanding. In this era
of competitive technology, the knowledge about computerization of each field in our day
to day working is necessary for efficient and fast working of our required jobs.

For the above said purpose, we developed the project named as “ATM”. It is developed
in “JAVA” [Link] Project performs some transactions which allows us to access
the bank customers to gain access to their accounts without moving towards bank.

Features of ATM machine:

1. It has open front structure.

2. The bank is capable of maintaining the changes the changes made by
customer on ATM machine.
3. It will open a software design to perform transactions.
4. It can perform cash withdrawal, balance enquiries, password changing,
electronic transfers etc in fraction of second without moving towards bank.
5. The system can be upgraded easily with the features of stabilization, efficient
and easy maintainance.

Specifications:

a) Power supply : 220v

b) Operating Temperature : 0

Inner:

a) Dimensions : 600 x 800 x 1,450mm

b) Net Weight :400kg.

Outer :

Overview:

An automated teller machine (ATM) is a computerized telecommunications device

that provides the customers of a financial institution with access to financial
transactions in a public space without the need for a human clerk or bank teller. On
most modern ATMs, the customer is identified by inserting a plastic ATM card with
a magnetic stripe or a plastic smartcard with a chip, that contains a unique card
number and some security information, such as an expiration date or CVVC (CVV).
Security is provided by the customer entering a personal identification number
(PIN).Using an ATM, customers can access their bank accounts in order to make
cash withdrawals (or credit card cash advances) and check their account balances as
well

The first mechanical cash dispenser was developed and built by Luther George
Simjian and installed in 1939 in New York City but removed after 6 months due to
the lack of customer acceptance.

Thereafter, the history of ATMs paused for over 25 years, until De La Rue developed
the first electronic ATM, which was installed first in Enfield Town in North London,
United Kingdom on 27 June 1967 by Barclays Bank. The first person to use the
machine was the British variety artist and actor Reg Varney. The first ATMs
accepted only a single-use token or voucher, which was retained by the machine.
These worked on various principles including radiation and low-coercivity
magnetism that was wiped by the card reader to make fraud more difficult.. The
idea of a PIN stored on the card was developed by the British engineer James
Goodfellow in 1965.

ATMs are placed not only near or inside the premises of banks, but also in locations
such as shopping centers/malls, airports, grocery stores, petrol/gas stations,
restaurants, or where large numbers of people may gather. In Canada, when an
ATM is not operated by a financial institution it is known as a "White Label ATM".

Most ATMs are connected to interbank networks, enabling people to withdraw and
deposit money from machines not belonging to the bank where they have their
account or in the country where their accounts are held .

5
Many banks charge ATM usage fees. In some cases, these fees are charged solely to
users who are not customers of the bank where the ATM is installed; in other cases,
they apply to all users. Where machines make a charge some people will not use
them, but go to a system without fees.

The world's most northerly installed ATM is located at [Link] world's most
southerly installed ATM is located at Antarctica. In the United Kingdom, an ATM
may be colloqually referred to as a "Cashpoint”. In Scotland the term Cashline has
become a generic term for an [Link] the Ireland, ATM's are also commonly
referred to as a "Banklink.

An ATM is typically made up of the following devices:

• CPU (to control the user interface and transaction devices)

• Magnetic and/or Chip card reader (to identify the customer)
• PIN Pad (similar in layout to a Touch tone or Calculator keypad), often
manufactured as part of a secure enclosure.
• Display (used by the customer for performing the transaction)
• Function key buttons (usually close to the display) or a Touchscreen (used to
select the various aspects of the transaction).
• Record Printer (to provide the customer with a record of their transaction).

NIIT and Sun Microsystems have tied up to introduce specialised education and
training programs on Sun technologies. Students emerging from these programmes
will further grow the Java and Solaris developer communities in the country.
Through this alliance, NIIT will have access to the latest Sun technologies, tools,
technical resources and curricula on the Java and Solaris platforms. Sun will enable
NIIT to offer a range of customised programmes to a broad spectrum of students
through NIIT's widespread network of IT education centres.
For undergraduates, as part of its efforts to enhance its curriculum, NIIT will now
integrate the latest generation of the Sun Java platform into the GNIIT curriculum.
Students will work with high-end visual development tools such as Java Studio
Enterprise that focus on improving developer productivity and software quality.
For working professionals, the high end Sun curriculum will be integrated into
NIIT's CATS (Curriculum for Advanced Technology Studies) offerings. This will
allow professionals to get access to training on the latest platforms and tools.
