Former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker Endorses Republican David Jolly for Floridas 13th Congressional District
Jolly Campaign Continues Gaining Momentum with Support of Former Mayor Baker Indian Shores, Fla. David Jolly, former Senior Advisor and General Counsel to the late Congressman Bill Young, today announced that former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker has endorsed his candidacy to represent Floridas 13th Congressional District, which is located entirely in Pinellas County. It is a tremendous honor to have the support and endorsement of a leader who transformed St. Petersburg by creating a seamless city where everyone has truly pulled together, said Jolly. I am humbled to have the backing of a man who has solidified his own legacy of public service and who is so highly-known and respected for his commitment to improving the lives, education and community infrastructure for so many here in Pinellas County. Rick Baker had the vision, skills and character to make things work; now that is a lesson Washington could learn from. Calling Jolly a Pinellas County native who knows our people and their priorities, Baker joins a growing list of local and regional endorsers of Jollys bid for Floridas 13th Congressional District seat, including former U.S. Ambassador Mel Sembler, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense and U.S. Secretary of the Navy Gordon England, U.S. Representative Richard Nugent (R-Spring Hill), State Representative Larry Ahern (R-Seminole), former Pinellas County Commissioner and School Board member Nancy Bostock, City of Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters, former Pinellas Park Mayor Bill Mischler, St. Petersburg Businessmen Bill Hough and Jim MacDougald, and Pinellas County Businessman Jim Holton. We need a leader who will be a strong voice for our community and a strong leader in Washington to help turn back the tide of irresponsible federal spending and debt, said Baker. David Jolly knows Pinellas and has worked to support Congressman Youngs many efforts from industry to tourism to the support of our veterans. David wont need a guidebook to know where to start and what to do.
