Soap is a type of detergent, but detergent usually refers only to synthetic detergents which have a different chemical make-up than soap. Detergent and soaps contain a cleaning agent called surfactant or surface active agent. Surfactants consists of molecules that attach themselves to dirt particles. Most detergents contain a synthetic surfactant plus other chemicals that had improve a detergent's cleaning ability or make it easier to use. all soaps consists of basically the smae kind of surfactants. Detergents and soaps also contain such ingredients such as perfumes, coloring agents, and genicides (germ killing agents).
Bar soaps are made for bathing and laundry use. Manufacturers use several methods to make bars of soap. They make floating soaps by mixing the warm soap solution with air in a machine equipped with cooling coils. They machine cools the soap and squeezes it out in the form of a long continous bar.
