School Happenings
Please remember that all coke orders and money are due in tomorrow, Friday, September 27th. PTO officers will be working Friday afternoon at school to total our order and send to Coke. Drinks will be available for pickup at the upcoming Chili Supper on Saturday, October 12th from 4-7 p.m. Thank you for supporting the efforts of our PTO! Speaking of Chili Supper, we are in need of parent volunteers. If you would be willing to help us out and work a shift, please email PTO President Jen Mayhall at jmayhall@[Link]. She will schedule a time that works for you. The Chili Supper is a fun, community event. Please plan to get involved. We need you! Lincoln Trail has partnered with Wellborn Hospital to create a School Wellness Plan that requires us to examine how we promote a healthy lifestyle for our students and get kids active and moving throughout the school day. Mrs. Persohn heads up this committee for us. After completing a short study, it became clear to us that there are times during the school day that we are not maximizing opportunities to have kids exercising. One of these times is during the morning before assembly. Research has proven that developing a childs motor skills and visual processing skills leads to better student conduct and performance at both school and home. Beginning on Monday, October 7th, we will begin a walking club and start Minds in Motion. Mr. Sisley has taught students the different stations and components of this program in PE classes. Students in grades K-2 will work in Minds in Motion stations on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays and walk outside on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Upper level students will do just the opposite. To learn more about Minds in Motion, go to [Link]. Thank you to our wellness committee for getting this started at Lincoln Trail!

Acuity
Students in grades 3-6 began the first round of Acuity testing this week. Acuity is an online assessment that usually takes about 40 minutes to complete. This round of testing is used to predict future performance on the ISTEP exam. Reports will be shared with you during Parent/Teacher conferences. The data that teachers receive from these assessments is very detailed and guides their instruction. Teachers can pinpoint instruction that matches all the way down to the exact standard that students need help with. Be on the lookout for the sign up form for Parent-Teacher conferences. This will come home in next weeks Thursday folder.
