US gold futures edged down on Monday amid concerns over possible withdrawal of US Federal Reserve monetary stimulus, higher than expected China manufacturing data and Barack Obama's recent decision to obtain congressional approval before taking any military action against Syria. In a latest development, US president Barack Obama has decided to obtain a congressional approval before taking military attack against Syrian forces in response to alleged chemical weapon attack on its Syrians. Analysts expect that, US Central Bank may start tapering its bullion friendly stimulus program in September.
BASE METAL
Chinese dragon is emerging key factor yet again as copper prices have surged the most in three weeks. Chinese production has helped copper demand surge in the Asian country. In its latest report, RBC Capital Markets Ltd noted that the base metal has gained mainly on account of the Chinese demand, which has influenced the consumption demand from the country.

Manufacturing data out of China has proven supportive to base metals, RBC Capital Markets Ltd said in a report today. Manufacturing activity has strengthened last month in China, the worlds largest consumer of the metal. As per the official data, the benchmark manufacturing gauge jumped to a 16-month high of 51 and a separate measure from HSBC Holdings Plc and Markit Economics jumped the most in three years to 50.1. Readings above 50 indicate expansion.
