Welding Strength Design Calculations

This document provides calculations for the design of a lap joint between steel plates subjected to both eccentric loading and tension. It includes calculations to determine: 1) The shear capacity and bearing strength of bolts in the joint. 2) The direct forces and bending moment on bolts due to the eccentric load. 3) The tensile force in the extreme bolt due to bending. 4) Verification that the combined forces due to eccentric load and tension do not exceed the bolt design strength. The design is determined to be safe based on the calculated bolt forces being less than the bolt design capacities.
