Affordable Intelligent Pneumatic Tools

The document discusses intelligent tooling systems, specifically comparing DC electric systems to the Stanley PSI pneumatic system. While DC systems offer high-end features, the Stanley PSI allows for many of the same monitoring and control capabilities at a lower cost and with more flexibility. The Stanley PSI controller works with four types of Stanley pneumatic tools covering a range of applications from light to intense duty cycles. It also provides visual fastener status indicators after each cycle.

Yes, you read that right... the term intelligent tooling does not strictly apply to the high-end, ultra expensive DC electric controller systems. The Stanley PSI-C allows many of the same features as DC electric tooling, but with the lower cost and greater flexibility of pneumatic tools. Now before you start kicking yourself for breaking the bank on that DC system, keep in mind that there is some give and take between the two, and the best product for your process lies within your assembly requirements. If you dont like the idea of fixturizing large, bulky DC tools or cant afford to integrate DC systems into your process, the Stanley PSI family is a great alternative. It offers excellent flexiblitiy with comparable monitoring and control of DC systems at a fraction of the cost. The Stanley PSI-C controller works with 4 types of Stanley tool types designed to cover a wide range of application requirements. These tools cover pulse, impact, and gear driven tools ranging from 3 to 3,000 Nm and beyond. Also, upon cycle completion, a bright Green or RED light will illuminate the work piece to indicate wheth- er the fastener was run correctly.

The Stanley PSI-Q (Qualifying version) offers the same Red/Green notification lights to alert the operator of fastening errors and can hook up to ANY pneumatic tool, meaning this system will work for the pneumatic tools you currently have on your line! The PSI-Q can notify the operator of:
-Rehits of a pretightened fastener -Cross-Thread of fasteners into mating threads -Slip-off (or cam out) of the socket or screwdriver bit from the fastener head before fastening to final torque. -Short cycle by the operator prior to fastening to final torque.
