ASSIGNMENT 1
MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing is the creation of goods with the help of equipment ,
labour ,machines , tools and chemical or biological formulation. Wikipedia

Manufacturing is divided into six major categories namely forming , casting ,
moulding ,joining , machining and additive manufacturing
FORMING
Metal forming is a process of manufacturing components of desired shapes by
deforming the materials plastically , by the application of compressive force ,
bending or shear force , tensile force or combination of all these forces
together without adding or removing materials.

Forging , rolling and casting are the common techniques for forming
FORGING
[Link]
Forging is the controlled plastic deformation of metals at elevated
temperatures into a predetermined size or shape using compressive forces
exerted through a die by a hammer a press or an upsetting machine there are
two types of forging , drop forging which is carried out by using drop
hammers. There is also closed die forging . [Link]
ROLLING
[Link]
Rolling is a metal forming process in which the deformation takes place under
the application of compressive forces between rollers .[Link]
EXTRUSION

Extrusion is a process of creating objects of a fixed cross section profile by
pushing materials through a die of the desired cross section . Its two main
advantages are its ability to create very complex cross sections and to work
materials that are brittle because the material only encounters compressive
and shear stresses . it also creates an excellent surface finish and gives
considerable freedom of form in the design process. Haresh bambhania 2021
