Time Allowed: 2 12 Hours Maximum Marks: 80

Answers to this Paper must be written on the paper provided separately.


You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the
question paper.
The time given at the head of this Paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.
Attempt all questions from Section A and any four questions from Section B.
All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown, and must be done on the same sheet as the
rest of the answer. Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks.

(i) A dealer in Mumbai sells an article to a consumer in Pune for Rs. 24,000. If the GST rate is

(i) Find the value of a and b if (x − 1) and (x + 2) are factors of the polynomial x3 + ax2 − bx − 6.
Hence, factorise the polynomial completely. [4]

(ii) In what ratio does the line x − y − 2 = 0 divide the line segment joining the points A(3, −1)
and B(8, 9)? Also find the coordinates of the point of intersection. [4]

(iii) Draw a histogram for the following distribution and use it to estimate the mode: [5]

Question 4
(i) A manufacturer in Gujarat sells a machine to a dealer in Maharashtra at a discount of 20% on
the printed price of Rs. 60,000. The dealer sells it to a consumer in Maharashtra at a discount
of 10% on the printed price. If the rate of GST is 18%, find: (a) The IGST paid by the dealer.
(b) The SGST payable by the dealer to the State Government. [3]

(ii) From a well-shuffled pack of 52 playing cards, all the red face cards are removed. A card is
drawn at random from the remaining cards. Find the probability that the drawn card is: (a) a
black king (b) a red card (c) an ace. [3]

(iii) Water flows through a cylindrical pipe of internal diameter 2 cm into a cylindrical tank of base
radius 40 cm at the rate of 0.7 m/sec. Find the rise in the water level of the tank in half an
hour. [4]

Question 5
(i) The sum of the first 7 terms of an Arithmetic Progression is 63, and the sum of its next 7 terms
is 161. Find the 28th term of this AP. [3]

(ii) Prove the following trigonometric identity: [3]

(iii) In △ABC, ∠ABC = 90◦ and BD ⊥ AC. If AB = 5.7 cm, BD = 3.8 cm and CD = 5.4 cm,
find the length of BC. Also, prove that △ABD ∼ △BCD. [4]

Draw an ogive for the given distribution on a graph sheet (take 2 cm = 10 marks on one axis

Question 7
(i) Construct a triangle ABC with BC = 7 cm, ∠B = 60◦ , and AB = 5 cm. Construct the locus
of points inside the triangle that are equidistant from BA and BC, and also the locus of points
equidistant from B and C. Mark the point of intersection of these two loci as P . Measure and
write the length of P C. [5]

(ii) The angle of elevation of a stationary cloud from a point 25 m above a lake is 30◦ , and the angle
of depression of its reflection in the lake is 60◦ . Find the height of the cloud above the lake level.
[5]

(i) A person has a recurring deposit account of Rs. 1,200 per month at 8% p.a. If he gets Rs.
12,440 at the time of maturity, find the total time in months for which the account was held.

(ii) Find the range of values of x, which satisfy the inequation: [3]

(iii) A solid metallic right circular cylinder of base radius 3 cm and height 5 cm is melted and recast

(i) Given that (x + 2) and (x − 3) are factors of x3 + ax + b, calculate the values of a and b. [3]

(ii) Which term of the Arithmetic Progression 3, 10, 17, . . . is 84 more than its 13th term? [3]

(iii) Calculate the mean of the following distribution using the step-deviation method: [4]

Question 10

(i) A shopkeeper buys a camera at a discount of 20% from a wholesaler. The printed price of
the camera is Rs. 16,000. The shopkeeper sells it to a consumer at the printed price. If the
intra-state sales are subject to GST at 12%, find the SGST paid by the shopkeeper to the State
Government. [3]

(ii) Prove the following trigonometric identity: [3]

(iii) In the given figure (assume standard diagram), AB ∥ DC in trapezium ABCD. Diagonals AC
and BD intersect at O. If AB = 2CD, find the ratio of the areas of △AOB and △COD. Also,
if the area of △AOB is 84 cm2 , find the area of △COD. [4]
