MS Excel Practice Task

Dear Students,
Here’s a little Excel challenge for you! The skills needed for this activity are ones we’ve already explored earlier, so take a moment to recall
what you learnt and put it into practice.

Your Task: Create a worksheet with these columns:

Student Name | Subject | Marks | Total | Average

1. Enter details for at least 5 students.


2. Use Data Validation:
- Subject: Create a drop-down list with English, Maths, Science, Computer.
- Marks: Allow only whole numbers from 0 to 100.
3. Use the SUM function to calculate the Total marks.
4. Use the AVERAGE function to calculate the Average marks.
5. Use at least two basic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division in a suitable example.
6. Use Conditional Formatting to highlight marks below 40.
7. Make your worksheet neat using colours, borders and suitable headings.

Challenge:
Add a Result column and use a formula to show “Pass” when the average is 40 or above and “Needs Improvement” when it is below 40.

Tip: Before asking for help from any adult, see if you can remember the steps or refer to the attached image and try to recall.
Save your file with your name and class.
