MS Excel Practice Task
Dear Students,
Here’s a little Excel challenge for you! The skills needed for this activity are ones you’ve already explored earlier, so take a moment to recall
what you learnt and put it into practice.
Your Task
Create a worksheet with these columns:
Student Name | English | Maths | Science | Total | Average
1. Enter marks for at least 5 students.
2. Use Data Validation to allow only whole numbers from 0 to 100.
3. Use the SUM function to calculate each student’s Total marks.
4. Use the AVERAGE function to calculate each student’s Average marks.
5. Practise any two basic operations using Excel formulas:
• Addition +
• Subtraction –
• Multiplication *
• Division /
Create a small section below your marks table with suitable numbers and use formulas to perform your chosen operations.
6. Make your worksheet neat using colours, borders, bold headings and suitable alignment.
7. Add a Class Total row at the bottom and use the SUM function to find the total marks scored by all students in each subject.
Challenge: Add one more subject of your choice and update the Total and Average columns to include the new subject.
Tip: Before asking for help from any adult, see if you can remember the steps or refer to the attached images and try to recall.
Save your file with your name and class.
