INT. BICYCLE REPAIR SHOP, DAY
We see an analog clock on a bare industrial wall, it show a
time of 7:13 am, ANDREW, a man in his late twenties, with a
noticeable limp, wipes off the thick layer of dust on its
face, then sits down on a chair with a broken leg being
propped up by a a cinder-block, to replace a chain on a high
end racing bike, A note attached to the bike reads, "Rush
order, for Tuesday's race, FINISH FIRST!"
ANDREW wipes his now greasy hands on his mechanics work
suit, and gives the pedals a test spin, they work flawlessly
moving incredibly smoothly.
George, an older mechanic, around 50, enters the shop, box
of donuts and 2 cups of coffee in hand.
GEORGE
Hey Andy! I got breakfast!
George wipes various tools and documents off a metal table
in the corner of the shop. They both then sit down
Andrew tries to grab a donut from the box, but his hands are
still covered in chain oil, so George snatches the box away.
GEORGE (cont'd)
Jesus, Andrew, are you trying to ruin
breakfast? Go wash your hands!
Andrew mumbles an apology, then limps over to the bathroom,
washes his hands and looks in the mirror. For a split
second, he sees himself in a biking suit, with a helmet,
then the reflection returns to normal.
Andrew comes back and grabs a donut, taking a bite.
ANDREW
(Halfheartedly )
I got Wilson's bike done, its race
ready.
They both continue to eat their donuts.
ANDREW (cont'd)
You know, these things are stale,
plus, they're really bad for you.
Full of chemicals.
George laughs and pulls out a cigarette.
GEORGE
Can't be worse than this.

2.
Andrew chuckles and pulls out his own cigarette, which
George lights.
Andrew finishes his donut, and takes the now empty box to
the trash can in the corner of the room. He sees his old
bike, mounted alone on a wall-rack, he looks at it, then
takes it down, rolling it over to a rack with many other
used bicycles for sale.
He grabs the label gun, types in 700 euros, applies the
sticker to the bike, and walks back to the break table
GEORGE (cont'd)
Change your mind?
Andrew just nods, and sips his coffee, until after a few
moments, he stands up.
ANDREW
I've got some inventory to do, thanks
for breakfast.
GEORGE
Don't mention it.
INT. BICYCLE REPAIR SHOP, NIGHT
Andrew saves all changes to the spreadsheet he is working
on, powers down the store computer, then gets up from his
computer chair, grabs his coat from a coatrack near the
front door, and gets ready to leave, but before he can, he
hears a knock at the door.
Andrew sighs and double checks the clock on the wall, before
opening the door, to see WILSON, an athletic young man, is
standing in the doorway, with confident posture, wearing a
warm puffer jacket, a hat, and winter gloves
WILSON
I'm here to pick up an order
ANDREW
Sure thing, let me go and get it.
WILSON
If its all the same, I'd rather come
in.
ANDREW
Sure.

3.
Wilson and Andrew walk over to the bike, Wilson then grabs
his bike, hands over a wad of bills. Wilson wheels his bike
over to the door of the shop.
WILSON
Just so you know, I'm glad I have
someone who's actually raced before
working on my bike.
Wilson then exits the shop and bikes away.
Andrew locks up the remaining tool cabinets, doors, windows,
and puts the cash in the cashbox before locking it, using
the key ring he keeps in his pocket.
He hesitates, before finally opening the bottom drawer of
the filing cabinet. He smiles to himself.
EXT. BICYCLE REPAIR SHOP, NIGHT
Andrew exits the repair shop, now holding a leather jacket
and a motorcycle helmet. He walks to the parking lot, where
he dramatically dons the jacket and helmet and rides off
into the night.
We see on the back of the jacket is an embroidered phoenix.
