Skit: The Price of Silence

Theme: Sharing is Caring – Sometimes the greatest thing we can share is

someone's burden.

Hosts Opening/Prologue

Host 1: Good morning, respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends.

When we hear the words "Sharing is Caring," we often think of

sharing food, books, or gifts.

Host 2: But what if the most valuable thing we could share isn't
something we can hold?

Sometimes, people around us are carrying invisible burdens—

stress, fear, loneliness, or worries that no one notices.

Host 1: A few kind words, a listening ear, or simply asking, "Are

you okay?" can make all the difference.

Host 2: Today, we present "The Price of Silence," a story that

reminds us that the greatest act of sharing is sharing
someone's burden.

(Lights dim. Skit begins.)

Scene 1 – The Classroom

Characters:

Teacher (Aahan)
Aarav (Deon)
Kabir (Lakshy)
Meera (Kyra)
Riya (Netaniyaa)
 (Students are chatting before class. Aarav walks in quietly,
looking tired.)

Kabir: Guys! Did anyone actually finish yesterday's Maths homework?

Meera: Barely. I thought I'd survive the chapter... turns out the chapter
survived me!

Kabir (to Aarav): Aarav! You definitely finished it. Come on, save us.

Aarav (forcing a smile): Maybe later...

(He quietly sits alone.)

Teacher enters.

Teacher: Good morning, class. Today we'll begin with a quick

question. Aarav, could you answer this one?

(Aarav doesn't respond.)

Aarav?

Aarav: Sorry, ma'am... I wasn't paying attention.

Teacher: That's alright... but this isn't like you. Please focus.

(Bell rings.)

Scene 2 – Outside the Classroom

Kabir: Football after school?

Aarav: Not today.

Kabir: You've been saying "not today" every day!Anyway... your loss.

(Kabir leaves.)

(Riya walks towards Aarav.)

Riya: Aarav..., are you okay?

Aarav: Yeah.

Riya: Just "yeah"? You've been quiet for days.

Aarav: I'm fine.

Riya: If you say so...

(He walks away.)

Scene 3 – A Few Days Later

(Teacher returns test papers)

Teacher: Aarav..., please stay back after class.

(Everyone leaves except Aarav.)

Riya quietly returns and sits beside him.

Riya: You don't have to say anything. I'll just sit here.

(A few seconds of silence)

Riya: But if something's wrong... You don't have to carry it alone.

(Pause.)

Aarav (voice breaking): Everyone keeps asking about my

marks...Nobody asks how I am. My dad lost his
[Link] mom works all day. Every night I hear
them worrying... I can't sleep. I can't
concentrate. Every morning I pretend
 everything's okay... Because I don't want anyone
to worry about me.

(Silence)

Riya: Why didn't you tell me?

Aarav: I thought... I'd only become someone else's burden.

Scene 4 – Sharing the Burden

(Kabir and Meera walk in.)

Kabir: We heard... Why didn't you tell us?

Meera: Friends are meant to help each other.

Kabir: We'll study together from now on.

Meera: I'll share my notes. We'll get through this together.

Teacher walks in.

Teacher: Life doesn't become easier by hiding our struggles. It

becomes easier when we allow others to stand beside
us. Asking for help is never a weakness. It is courage.

Vivann J Remember... Not every

(Counsellor/Senior Student):

burden is visible. Sometimes,

the kindest thing we can
share is our time... Our
compassion... And our
willingness to listen.

Final Tableau enters

(Everyone stands together with Aarav in the centre.)

Narrator (Parv): We often think sharing means giving away things.

But sometimes... The greatest gift we can offer... Is our
 kindness. Our understanding. And the strength to help
someone carry what they cannot carry alone.

Everyone Together (slowly and clearly): "Sharing is caring isn't just about
sharing what we have... It's about sharing the burdens
others carry."

(Lights fade.)

Hosts' Closing

Host 1: A smile can hide a struggle. A quiet person may be

carrying more than we can imagine.

Host 2: Before we judge, let's choose to [Link] we

ignore, let's choose to ask, "Are you okay?"

Host 1: Because sometimes, the greatest act of sharing isn't giving

something away—

Host 2: It's giving someone your time, your kindness, and your support.

Hosts 1 & 2: "A problem shared is a problem halved. Let us not

only share what we have, but also share the burdens that
others carry."

THE INTERVIEW

SCENE 1 – THE WAITING ROOM

(Four chairs are placed outside the interview room. A sign reads “INTERVIEW ROOM.” The
candidates are waiting.)

VJ (scrolling through his phone):

Ugh… this interview better be worth it.

Laksh (stretching, looking at his medals or sports bag):

I’ve got this. Interviews are easy.

Kyra (typing on her laptop/notebook):

I’ve got another meeting after this. Hope they don’t keep us waiting.

Netaniyaa (searching frantically through her file):

Oh no…

(She checks her bag again.)

I forgot my pen.
(She looks at everyone politely.)

Excuse me… does anyone have a spare pen I could borrow? I’ll return it right after the
interview.

(A small pause.)

VJ (without even looking up from his phone):

Sorry… it’s my favourite pen.

(Continues scrolling.)

Laksh:
I’ve only got one.

Need it for myself.

Kyra:
Mine’s expensive.

I can’t risk losing it.

(Netaniyaa nods quietly.)

Netaniyaa:
It’s okay…

I’ll manage.

(She sits down, looking worried. An awkward silence follows.)

(The interview room door opens. Deon walks out holding a clipboard.)

Deon:
Good morning, everyone.

Thank you for your patience.

The panel is ready.

Would all four candidates please come inside?

(The four stand up, collect their belongings, and walk confidently into the interview room
together.)

Lights fade.

SCENE 2 – THE INTERVIEW BEGINS

(The four candidates are seated facing Deon.)
Deon:
Good morning, everyone.

Congratulations on reaching the final stage of the interview.

Each of you has excelled in a completely different field, and today we’d like to learn more
about your journey.

Let’s begin.

VJ – Social Media Influencer

Deon:
VJ, tell us a little about yourself.

VJ:
I’m a digital content creator with over a million followers. I create content that entertains
people and collaborate with different brands.

Deon:
Building such a large audience isn’t easy.

What kept you motivated when hardly anyone was watching your videos?

VJ:
I reminded myself that every creator starts somewhere. I focused on improving with every
video instead of chasing numbers.

Deon:
A good mindset. Thank you.

Laksh – Athlete
Deon:
Laksh.

Tell us about yourself.

Laksh:
I’m a national-level athlete and captain of my school team. Sports have always been a huge
part of my life.

Deon:
What first inspired you to pursue athletics?

Laksh:
When I was younger, I watched athletes represent our country with pride. Seeing their
dedication inspired me to train harder and dream bigger.
Deon:
Interesting.

One more question.

What is the biggest lesson sport has taught you?

Laksh:
That talent may get you noticed, but discipline is what keeps you there.

Deon:
Well answered.

Netaniyaa – Academic Topper

Deon:
Netaniyaa.

Please introduce yourself.

Netaniyaa:
I’m the academic topper of my grade and I’ve always enjoyed learning new things.

Deon:
Many students find academics stressful.

How do you stay focused under pressure?

Netaniyaa:
I break big goals into smaller ones and stay consistent. I believe discipline is more important
than last-minute studying.

Deon:
That’s valuable advice.

Kyra – Entrepreneur
Deon:
Kyra.

Tell us about yourself.

Kyra:
I started a small business while managing school. It taught me responsibility, problem-
solving, and how to deal with people.

Deon:
Starting something at such a young age takes courage.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting your business?

Kyra:
Believing in myself. At first, people doubted me, but I learned that every successful business
begins with someone willing to take the first step.

Deon:
Excellent answer.

(Deon closes his file and looks at all four candidates.)

Deon:
Thank you.

Your achievements are impressive, and you’ve all shown determination, discipline, and
ambition.

(He pauses.)

But interviews aren’t only about achievements…

They’re also about character.

Now, I’d like to ask all of you a few final questions.

(Lights dim slightly.)

SCENE 3 – THE QUESTIONS THAT

MATTER
(The room becomes quieter. Deon opens another file.)

Deon:
These questions have no right or wrong answers.

Only honest ones.

Deon: (looking at VJ)

VJ…

You told us you’ve inspired millions online.

Tell me about one person whose life became better because you personally took the time to
help them.

(VJ pauses.)

VJ:
I…

I’m not really sure.

(Deon nods and writes something down.)

Question 2
Deon: (looking at Laksh)

Laksh…

You’ve won medals and led your team.

Can you tell me about a time you slowed down your own progress to help someone else
improve?

(Laksh thinks.)

Laksh:
I always focused on training…

I never really thought about that.

(Deon quietly notes something.)

Question 3
Deon: (looking at Netaniyaa)

Netaniyaa…

You spoke beautifully about discipline and preparation.

When was the last time you shared your knowledge with someone who was struggling…

…even if it meant they might score as well as you?

(Netaniyaa lowers her eyes.)

Netaniyaa:
I…

I don’t know.
Question 4
Deon: (looking at Kyra)

Kyra…

You built a successful business.

How many opportunities did you create for others?

(Kyra hesitates.)

Kyra:
I mostly worked alone.

(A long silence fills the room.)

Deon (Final Message)

(Deon closes the file and stands in the front.)

Deon:
You thought this interview was about success.

It wasn’t.

The interview began before you walked into this room.

Someone asked for a pen…

No one chose to share it.

Success isn’t defined by what we achieve…

but by what we choose to give.

Because the greatest achievements… are the ones we share.

Hosts’ Closing
Host 1:
Today, we saw two different stories, but one powerful message.
