A. Brief Course Description
The course introduces students to the role of civil society organization and the community
contribution and other stakeholders to development.
B. Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course students should be able to:
• Comprehend the role of CSOs in participatory democracy, decision making,
planning & development for poverty eradication
• Identify areas for collaboration among different stakeholders
• Describe the need for community mobilization and facilitation of peoples
participation in the governance process.
C. Course Objectives
• Students should improve on their understanding of community mobilisation,
participation and empowerment
• Students acquire skills on community mobilisation;
• Students should be able to explain the role of CSOs and other stakeholders in
participatory democracy, decision making, planning & development for poverty
eradication
