2. Match each microscope part on the left with its correct function on the right!

Draw a line connecting the microscope part to its appropriate function.

Ocular Lens (Eyepiece) Captures and reflects light towards the specimen.

Objective Lens Gathers and concentrates light onto the specimen.

Revolving Nosepiece The flat platform where the slide/specimen is placed.

Body Tube Holds the slide firmly in place on the stage.

Condenser Lens located closest to the object being observed.

Reflector (Mirror) Lens through which the user looks to observe the specimen.

Stage Clips Rotates to select different objective lens magnifications.

Stage Moves the body tube or stage up and down for coarse focusing.

Arm Glass slide containing the prepared specimen to be examined.

Base Used for carrying and holding the microscope securely.

Specimen Slide Connects the eyepiece to the objective lenses.

Coarse Focus Knob Sharpen the focus and bring the specimen into precise detail.

Fine Focus Knob Supports and stabilizes the entire microscope.

Inclination Joint Adjusts the tilting angle of the microscope for comfortable viewing.

Diaphragm Regulates the amount of light passing through the specimen.

3. Match the illustration with the correct step on how to use a microscope!

Write the step number (1 to 6) in the bracket next to each illustration/description pair, or match them correctly.

[ ] Take the microscope out of its storage cabinet. Hold the arm of the
Step A microscope with your right hand and support the base with your left hand. Place
(Carrying Microscope) the microscope on a flat, dry surface with sufficient lighting.

Step B [ ] Rotate the nosepiece so that the lowest power objective lens clicks into
place aligned with the body tube and eyepiece.
(Setting Objective)

Step C [ ] Adjust the diaphragm and mirror to direct light up through the stage hole
until a bright circle of light (field of view) is clearly visible through the eyepiece.
(Adjusting Light)

[ ] Prepare the specimen slide and place it on the stage. Position the
Step D specimen directly over the stage aperture/hole, then secure the slide using the
(Placing Specimen) stage clips.

[ ] Adjust the focus to get a clear image by:

Step E 1. Turning the coarse adjustment knob to move the stage/tube until the object
comes into view.
(Focusing Image)
2. Turning the fine adjustment knob to sharpen the focus.

[ ] Once the specimen is in clear focus, switch to a higher magnification

Step F objective (e.g., 10x, 40x, or 100x) by rotating the nosepiece until it clicks. Re-
(Higher Magnification) adjust fine focus as necessary.
