TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS:
1. INTRODUCTION (5- 6 mins)

Hi My name is _____________ and I’m calling from Vaughan Systems for your class. Are you
ready? How are you today?
Today’s class is a little bit different from your upcoming classes, today, I need to explain to you
a bit about these classes, for the following minutes I’ll explain the program to you and when I
finish you’ll get a chance to tell me about yourself and then I’ll proceed to perform a quick Level
test asking you questions Vaughan Style.
Welcome to our one to one Flex program, our objective here is to get more confident talking
and improving your English skills.
Our O2O program has two options, conversation and grammar. What’s the difference between
those two? Our conversation program aims to improve your fluency in natural conversation
and to give our listening comprehension a good work out. To do this, we will have a
conversation about a topic that you choose before each class. During the conversation I will
give you soft corrections on every single mistake I hear, and I’ll also write them down on a
feedback that you will receive around midnight today, then we will review those mistakes in
the last 5 minutes of the class Vaughan Style.

Our grammar program, aims to improve your grammar foundation using Vaughan Method. If
you have never used Vaughan method it is based on; making you repeat structures, changing
structures depending on the verb tenses, translation lists, etc. Its objective is to help you
improve your English going over grammar points that you will previously prepare going over
the online content of a book assigned to you. The book will be assigned after today’s class once
we assess your Level. Remember that I’m here to help you so if you don’t understand or you
would like me to repeat anything just ask.

 Remember these are 25-minute classes.

 Remember you can book your classes up to 15 minutes before the starting time.
BUT, we do not recommend that because we want you to prepare your classes
beforehand.
 Regarding the cancellation process, if you need to cancel your class you HAVE TO DO
IT 2 HOURS BEFORE THE STARTING TIME, otherwise you’ll lose the class. If you have
any problems, you must contact SOPORTE, send them an email, and they will help
you.
 When you use your portal to book a class, you’ll see both options (convo and
grammar) READ CAREFULLY because you have to choose the method you want, if
you want to book just one class or many classes at once, if you want a phone class or
a video class. If you choose conversation then you’ll have to select the topic. Follow
 each step carefully. If you choose a video class the link in order to access will be
generated 15 minutes before the class starts.
2. CONVERSATION PART (8 mins)
Well, that was our introduction, now it will be your time to get to talk and tell me a bit about
yourself, after 5-8 minutes I’ll go over the last part of today’s class which a set of various
questions. So, tell me a little bit about yourself.
Your age, if you are married or not, if you have any children, where do you live, what did you
study, what do you do, why do you need English. for example:

 How old are you?

 Where are you from?
 What do you need English for? (Communicate / watch series / write emails / attend
meetings or conference calls / travel etc)
 Have you been to an English speaking country? Where? For how long?

3. LEVEL TEST (8 mins)

REMEMBER TO KEEP THESE QUESTIONS FAST PACED, CHANGING TENSES, CHOO SE THE
ONES THAT ADAPT BETTER TO YOUR TEACHING STYLE, AVOID CONFUSING QUESTIONS.
 Use the conversation to gauge where you should start in the level test for example; if
the student is obviously an intermediate, skip some of the A1 and A2 questions. YOU
DON’T NEED TO USE ALL OF THE QUESTIONS
 If the student is starting to struggle, go back to some of the easier questions.
 Teacher should ask the questions on the level test and stop when they feel like the
student can no longer answer the questions without making a lot of mistakes. It will
say on the level test what book the question you are asking is from so this will let you
know what book the student should start on.
 At the end of the class select from the following options DO NOT LET THEM KNOW
WHAT SPECIFIC LEVEL YOU GAVE THEM JUST LET THEM KNOW THEY’LL RECEIVE
THEIR ONLINE CONTENT ON THEIR PLATFORM in the following hour:

4. GOING OVER THE FEEDBACK VAUGHAN STYLE (4 mins)

Review the mistakes that the student made during the level test. Pay attention to how well
they retained information and how they react to being corrected and asked to repeat.

A1 level students

If your student is a true beginner (A1), use the translation lists below in your first class.
Start with the vocabulary list, read the Spanish and have the student translate. Make
sure that you are being really strict on their pronunciation from the start. If they are
really struggling, limit yourself to around five – ten words and repeat them over and
over until the student can retain them.

If you think your student can handle it, try one of the translation lists below. Read the
Spanish sentence and have your student translate and repeat until they can say it with
a fair amount of agility and clear pronunciation. The lists go in order of difficulty.

1. Es un teléfono. It’s a telephone.

2. Estoy aquí. I’m here.

3. Esto es un bolígrafo. This is a pen.

4. El informe está en la mesa. The report is on the table.

5. La casa es grande. The house is big.

6. El periódico no está en la silla. The newspaper isn’t on the chair.

7. El libro es azul The book is blue.

8. El lápiz no está aquí. The pencil isn’t here.
