Writing Task 2 (Test)

In recent times, an increasing number of people prefer to be self-employed instead of working


under a company or an organisation. This shift can be explained by several social and economic
factors.

To begin with, many individuals value independence in their professional lives. In a company,
employees often need to follow strict schedules and report to superiors, which can sometimes
limit creativity. By contrast, self-employment allows people to choose their own working hours
and make independent decisions. Moreover, the rise of digital technology has created countless
opportunities for freelancers and entrepreneurs. For instance, many can now start online
businesses with very little investment, which was not possible in the past. Therefore, people nd
self-employment more appealing as it provides both exibility and autonomy.

However, despite these advantages, there are also clear drawbacks. Firstly, self-employed
individuals face nancial instability, as income is not always guaranteed. Unlike regular
employees, they do not receive a xed salary or bene ts such as health insurance and pensions.
Secondly, being one’s own boss can lead to long working hours and stress, since the
responsibility of success or failure lies entirely on the individual. Furthermore, competition in
today’s global market can be overwhelming, which makes survival in self-employment even more
challenging.

In conclusion, although self-employment o ers freedom and opportunities, it also brings


uncertainty and heavy responsibility. While some people are willing to take these risks in
exchange for independence, others may still prefer the security and stability provided by
traditional jobs. Ultimately, the choice depends on personal priorities and tolerance for risk.
