IN-PERSON INTERVIEW TIPS


Prior to the Interview
 Plan your route
 Dress for success – match dress code, wear something memorable
 Bring extra copies of your resume
 Plan to arrive 15 minutes early
 Check-in 5 minutes before interview
 Greet all employees with a smile and be friendly

During the Interview:


 Turn off electronics
 Make eye contact with interviewer
 Watch and read the body language of the interviewers for signals

Remember not to:


 Wear fragrances/cologne
 Smoke prior to interview
 Chew Gum
 Bring a cup of coffee/Outside drink to the interview
 Be late
 Check in more than 5 minutes before interview

GENERAL INTERVIEW TIPS

Do your research on the company, interviewers and the role:


 Visit the company website and corporate social media sites
 Brush up on industry trends
 Talk to your professional network
 Visit LinkedIn profiles of your interviewers - look for common connections points
 Re-read the job description - brush up on technologies required for the role
 Prepare questions for the interviewer that show insight into role and organization

Show Interest and enthusiasm:


 Be Passionate and Genuine
 Take notes during the interview
 Ensure the conversation is a 2-way conversation
 Speak clearly – do not mumble or speak to fast
 Be concise with your answers – stop talking when you have answered the question
 Ask for clarification if you don’t understand a question
 Ask questions that you have prepared – show that you have done research

Showcase your relevant experience


 Early in the interview, ask the interviewer to tell you more about the role and they type of person they are looking for?
 Have relevant examples - STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
 Examples are about what you accomplished and not the team. The answers should be “I did” not “we did x” etc.
 Be honest when there are gaps between your experience and the role, but find examples where you have overcome similar
obstacles
 Close strong – reiterate your interest in the role, summarize your fit, ask what the next step is

Remember not to:


 Discuss money or compensation package with the client – refer the client to speak to Procom about this
 Speak negatively about a previous or current employer
 Don’t ask questions that have already been answered
