Music is an escape from life that helps us cope with stress and provides comfort

in times of pain. It calms us down and could even make us happy at the time.

Additionally, it broadens the intellect and boosts our confidence. The therapeutic effects

of music on the human mind are significant. Music ignites all areas of child

development and skills for school readiness , including intellectual, social-

emotional , motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind

work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps they

learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build

motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and

adults, music helps strengthen memory skills. According to Wong & Lau, 2018.

Music teachers need good education to achieve subject matter mastery and face

challenges when teaching and that empowers them to deliver confidently. This means

that sufficient music teacher education and training will lead to improved confidence.

Interest in work, good results, and boosted confidence can make the music teacher

productive.

In our district, particularly in North Cabadbaran, I would like to find out the level

of functional teacher’s literacy in teaching music among public elementary school

educators, because as observed some of the teachers are very intelligent such that they

perform well in both academic and in other competition held in our Division. However, it

was also observed that some teachers have difficulty to teach in music and have

insufficient knowledge and abilities to instruct in teaching music. On the other hand,

there are some teachers who are knowledgeable and skilled in teaching music but they

were not able to impart well such capabilities because they are required to perform
other responsibilities. Through the result of this study will serve as the basis for

enhancement program. It is for the reason that this study will be conducted. The

teaching-learning abilities of a music teacher have a significant impact on the students'

learning outcomes. Therefore, if the teachers did not meet the standards of teaching

music, the student's learning achievement is low.

The study will be focused on the level of teacher’s literacy in teaching music among

public elementary school teachers of North Cabadbaran District, Division of

Cabadbaran City in the School Year [Link], it sought to answer the

following questions: What is the respondents’ socio-demographic profile in terms of;

Age,Gender; Length of service;Field of specialization; and Number of music trainings

attended?

2. What is the respondents’ level of proficiency in teaching music in terms of : Basic

skills in music;Musical awareness and;Utilization of musical instruments and technology

devices.

Pertaining to research methodology, The study will use a descriptive method of research

design to determine and gather accurate information regarding the level of music

teacher’s proficiency in teaching music among public elementary schools educators in

our District. This involves the collection of data in order to test hypothesis and to

determine the current status pertaining to the functional teacher’s knowledge and the

result will be the basis for the enhancement program. . It comprises with 4 public

elementary schools such as Caasinan Elementary School, Conception Elementary

School, North Cabadbaran Central Elementary School and FC Jongko, Integrated

School. Survey questionnaire will use to obtain primary data on the respondents ’socio-

demographic profile.

The following statistical techniques will use to interpret the data.

1. Weighted Mean is a tool to be used to consolidate all responses of teachers in their

socio-demographic profile and teacher’s level of proficiency in teaching [Link],

Frequency and Percentage: The statistic will be used to provide the discussion on the

socio-demographic profile and the Correlation Coefficient- will be used to test the

relationship between the respondents’ socio demographic profile teacher’s level of

proficiency in teaching music.
