Module 3 Session 1:
Dashboard navigation
and layout

The Dashboard is your main workspace for managing identity

verification. This is where you’ll set up necessary verification
levels, review applicants, analyze results, and adjust verification
flows as your business or regulatory needs evolve.

Overview This page gives you a snapshot of how your verification

screen system is performing and is meant for quick monitoring. 

↘ Total number of verified applicants

↘ Median processing time
↘ Approval and rejection rates
↘ Country distribution
↘ Most common rejection reasons

Applicants tab This is where you can see every applicant who has gone
through verification. Each line represents one user,
along with: 

↘ Review status
↘ Risk level
↘ Applicant ID
↘ Basic information
↘ Country
↘ Assigned compliance officer

 How to work with ↘ Search applicants by applicant name Or ID
the list ↘ Apply additional search filters
↘ Sort applicants by date or document type 

You’ll also see color-coded tags showing rejection

reasons or risk levels (for instance, “bad selfie,”
“forgery,” or “medium risk”).

Integrations section This is where you define how verification is actually

performed, meaning what steps users go through when
proving their identity. Inside Integrations, you’ll find a
subsection called Verification levels. Each level represents
a specific verification journey — a set of steps users must
complete to verify themselves. 

Examples of ↘ An identity document step followed by a selfie check

Level configuration ↘ Decide whether users upload a previously scanned file

options or capture their documents live with a camera

 Workflow Builder Once you’ve set verification levels up, you can combine them
into a complete verification flow using the Workflow Builder.
This is where you orchestrate how verifications actually run,
defining which verification level applies, when, and under
what conditions.

↘ Statistics provides charts and metrics for performance

analysis, like conversion rates or rejection reasons by country

↘ The Settings section lets you manage your team’s access

(invite new users, define roles, and control who can review
applicants or configure verification levels)

Module 3 Session 2:
Applicant statuses

When you open the Applicants section, you’ll see all the users
who have gone through verification. Each applicant has a status
that shows where they are in the verification process. You’ll
notice statuses like “Pending,” “Approved,” or “Rejected.” 

Statuses ↘ Pending means the verification is still in progress, either

undergoing automated checks or waiting for manual review

↘ The approved status means the applicant has successfully

passed all verification steps and no further action is needed

↘ Rejected means that something in the verification didn’t

result in a pass 

Rejection tags When you open a rejected applicant, look to the left-hand
side of the screen. You’ll see rejection tags, short labels that
explain the specific reason why the applicant was rejected. 

Two main types of rejections

1 Final: a final rejection means a major issue was found. Once

an applicant receives a Final rejection, their status is closed
and they are not allowed to resubmit their information.

 2 Resubmission: a resubmission means the problem was minor
and can be fixed. The applicant can redo the specific steps
of the verification flow that led to rejection. When a
Resubmission rejection occurs, the applicant will be
prompted to resubmit information within the step that was
unsuccessful, and the system automatically sets the applicant
status back to “Pending” after the resubmission of data.

Rejection ↘ DOCUMENT_DAMAGED means the ID photo was unreadable

labels or the document was physically damaged

↘ DOCUMENT_MISSING means one of the required

pages or sides wasn’t uploaded

↘ EXPIRATION_DATE indicates that the document was

expired or close to expiring

↘ SCREENSHOTS means the user uploaded a screenshot

instead of a proper photo

Selfie-related:
↘ BAD_SELFIE or BAD_FACE_MATCHING indicate that the
face on the selfie didn’t match the document photo or that
the image quality was too poor for comparison

↘ SELFIE_WITH_PAPER means the user needed to take a

selfie holding a note or statement as part of an additional
security step but this specific detail was missing in the
verification attempt

Proof of address:
BAD_PROOF_OF_ADDRESS means the uploaded document
didn’t meet the requirements (for example, the address
on the document wasn’t present or clearly readable; the
specific document type isn’t support; or there was a
mismatch of names)

 Rejection Other examples:
labels ↘ APPLICANT_INTERRUPTED_INTERVIEW happens when a
user drops out of a video identification call

↘ ADDITIONAL_DOCUMENT_REQUIRED is when the system

or reviewer requests extra documents for verification

↘ PROBLEMATIC_APPLICANT_DATA signals a mismatch

between what the user entered and what was found on
their documents

↘ NOT_ALL_CHECKS_COMPLETED means some steps in the

flow weren’t finished 

Manual review If the case is ambiguous or looks suspicious but not clearly
fraudulent, you can send the rejected applicant for manual
review. This is often used when the system flags borderline
issues that need a human check, like a mismatched face
angle, low-confidence liveness result, or altered document
background. 

Takeaway Final rejections stop the process completely, Retry rejections

allow resubmission, and the detailed labels explain what went
wrong and what to fix.

Module 3 Session 3:
Filtering, tagging, and notes
for team collaboration

The Applicants page in the Dashboard offers a wide range of

filters to help you quickly find the exact case you need. You can
combine several filters at once to make your search as precise
as needed. 

Filtering You can filter applicants by: 

↘ Time period
↘ Verification steps
↘ Document type
↘ Country
↘ Verification level
↘ Applicant status
↘ Platform or operating system
↘ Tags 

Exporting The Dashboard allows you to download either a pre-built

report or a custom CSV export that includes only the data
points you need from applicant profiles. This helps you
generate quick reports for compliance checks, audits, or
internal review without leaving the platform. 

Applicant tags Applicant tags are custom labels that you can create and
assign to applicant profiles. They’re great for filtering,
organizing, and classifying users based on
common features. 

Examples:
“High-risk,” “Crypto users,” “Pending manual check.”

 How tags are ↘ Create and manage tags directly in the Dashboard under
managed the Applicant Tags tab

↘ Choose a name and color, and decide whether to include

the tag in reports

↘ Add a tag manually to an applicant’s profile or automatically

using the Workflow Builder 

Workflow Builder The Workflow Builder lets you assign tags based on specific
and tags conditions such as questionnaire results, IP checks, or device
data or any other attributes available on the applicants’
profile. For instance, if an applicant connects through a
VPN, you can automatically tag them as “VPN detected.”

 Notes Notes are short comments or memos that you or other
operators can attach to an applicant’s profile. They’re useful
for adding context, documenting decisions, or explaining
why a particular case was approved, rejected, or escalated
for manual review. 

What a note contains

↘ Author
↘ Creation date
↘ Any assigned tags
↘ Attached files if needed (supporting evidence,
screenshots, or additional documentation)

Notes can be created directly in the Dashboard or through

API, and you can use notes as a search criterion when
looking for applicants in the Dashboard. 

Takeaway Filters make it easy to find what you need, tags keep
applicants structured and searchable, and notes preserve
valuable context across your team.

Module 3 Session 4:
Applicant page and
risk labels

The applicant summary page is where you can see everything

about a particular applicant in one place, from personal details
and document checks to risk labels and verification results. 

Events and At the center of the page, you’ll find the section with
workflow runs events and workflow runs. 

↘ The events section, also known as the event log, records

every step the applicant took during their verification journey
(screens, buttons, timestamps, device and network
information, and IP location)

↘ The “workflow runs” section shows which workflow the

applicant went through and is especially useful for complex
workflows with branching paths and multiple conditions 

Risk labels Risk labels are automatic flags generated during the
verification process. These can include device-related,
email-related, phone, selfie, or cross-check risk labels. Each
label category is explained in detail on Sumsub’s website,
where you can find when and why a particular label appears. 

Profile information Basic details such as the applicant’s email, phone number,
language, and source key if one was used. From here, you
can also add documents or additional fields.

 Information section This section provides verified data about the applicant. This
(verified data) data is pulled from the most reliable available source, such
as their ID document, proof of address, or a self-declaration
submitted during onboarding. 

Identity document Shows the image of the uploaded ID, the decision issued
block over it, and the extracted fields. Which fields appear
depends on your configuration settings in the Dashboard.
You can zoom in on the document, edit extracted data, or
even change the decision manually if needed. 

Checks This area lists all verification checks performed. In the

section proof of address block, you can see sub-checks confirming
whether the document type was acceptable, whether it
expired, and whether it came from a valid region
or institution. 

AML screening Displays the results of checks related to PEPs, sanctions,

watchlists and adverse media screening, including the
search terms used. If there’s a potential match, it will be
highlighted in yellow; if no match is found, you’ll see green
results. This section also includes a decision panel where
compliance officers can record their conclusions.

 Liveness and face These show the outcome of the biometric checks
match results performed during the liveness step. Liveness detection
confirms that the user was physically present, while face
matching compares the selfie to the document photo.
Both checks directly influence the final verification decision. 

Duplicates ↘ The duplicates section identifies applicants whose data may

and photos overlap or appear identical across different records, based
on data points such as name, date of birth, document
number, email, phone, or biometric data

↘ The photos section contains all uploaded images, including

documents, the selfies, and the proofs of address 

Verification steps Each step displays its own status, such as “Completed,”
(left side) “Failed,” or “Pending.” If you see the label “Pending,” it
doesn’t always mean the step is still being processed. It
can also mean that all required data has been collected
and the system is ready to perform the check. When the
entire applicant status is marked as “Pending,” that
indicates that the system is currently performing the
automated review.

 Tabs at the top ↘ The Overview tab provides a snapshot of the applicant’s
details, including personal information, risk overview,
workflow run, events, transactions, and related cases

↘ If there were any transactions, you can review them in

the Transactions section

↘ The Actions tab shows additional verifications that occurred

after initial onboarding, such as a liveness check during a
password reset or a follow-up questionnaire 

Takeaway This page provides a complete view of every applicant,

their documents, data, risk insights, and interaction history,
and serves as your single source of truth for understanding
each individual’s verification process and outcome.
