Chapter 4: heroine's Morning Sickness!
First
Encounter Between the Protagonist and
Villain
Lin Hao, somewhat dazed, left the office. His mind was racing. Liu Ruolan's sudden vomiting
made him recall the mature charm he had noticed earlier on her.
Back then, he had dismissed it as an illusion, but now he was beginning to connect the dots.
Could the vomiting be a sign of pregnancy?
This thought popped into his mind but was quickly discarded. It couldn't be. She was his fiancée,
one of the women he believed no one could take from him, not even if Jesus himself came.
The mere thought that Liu Ruolan might be carrying someone else's child tore at Lin Hao's heart,
leaving him breathless. Therefore, Lin Hao left the office, unable to accept this reality and
without the will to question why Liu Ruolan had chosen to annul their engagement.
"Maybe I'm overthinking it?" Lin Hao muttered to himself, trying to reassure his disquieted
mind. "Perhaps that mature charm I sensed was just my imagination, and the vomiting was due
to an upset stomach."
While Lin Hao's medical skills were no worse than his master's, he couldn't diagnose a
pregnancy with just a glance. He couldn't be certain that Liu Ruolan was indeed pregnant.
He was also puzzled by Liu Ruolan's emotions – the fear, anger, and embarrassment in her eyes.
She was the CEO of the prestigious Liu Group, a top figure in high society. Who could make her
display such emotions?
With renewed determination, Lin Hao's eyes sparkled. He was determined to uncover the truth. If
Liu Ruolan was pregnant, there had to be someone involved in this ambiguity. He was
determined to find that person. If he failed to find anyone, it would prove that he had been
overthinking things.
In reality, it was simpler to check Liu Ruolan's pulse. However, Lin Hao couldn't bring himself
to do it. What if it was true and he couldn't accept it?
But before he could delve further into his thoughts, a loud shout interrupted him.
"Stop right there, kid! How did you get in?"
A round-bodied security guard stood in front of him, the same one who had stopped Lin Hao at
the entrance earlier.
Lin Hao feigned innocence. Inwardly, he cursed his bad luck. Was he destined to clash with
security guards today?
"Don't give me that nonsense. Get out of here, or I'll call the police."
The security guard wasn't interested in his explanations. He threatened while physically guiding
Lin Hao towards the exit.
"Don't...brother, I'll go by myself." Lin Hao rolled his eyes, "I heard that Miss Liu is very
beautiful and one of the most beautiful people in the world. I just want to see if it is true…"
Hearing his compliment about Liu Ruolan, the security guard relaxed his grip slightly, feeling
proud. "Of course, our CEO is a stunning beauty, a true enchantress, and a fish in the water."
Security guards like him had seen many people like Lin Hao. Liu Ruolan was incredibly famous.
Many came to the company just to catch a glimpse of her.
There were extraordinary CEOs, charming scions, and radiant white-collar workers, and then
there were ordinary individuals. All were kept at bay by the security team. Little did they expect
that this young man had found a way to slip in.
"Oh? Miss Liu has countless admirers, but has she been romantically involved with anyone
recently?"
Lin Hao told the security guard so much just for this last sentence of temptation. If Liu Ruolan
was close to anyone, then these security guards in the company must know best.
After dragging Lin Hao to the company gate, the security guard relaxed and started talking
freely.
"The CEO's suitors can be arranged from the Shanghai to the Imperial Capital, but there are
really no successful ones, but…"
"But what?"
Lin Hao's eyes lit up. He had an intuition that the next sentence was the truth he wanted to find.
"But in recent months, Miss CEO has been getting closer to Mr. Xu," the security guard
whispered.
"Mr. Xu? Which Mr. Xu?"
"Shh, keep it down."
The security guard was startled by Lin Hao's loud voice and scolded him in a hushed tone.
Discussing the CEO's personal life privately could lead to dismissal. Seeing Lin Hao's agitation,
he looked around to ensure no one was eavesdropping before continuing.
"It's none other than the eldest son of the Xu family. He not only comes from a wealthy
background, but he's also extraordinarily handsome, polite, and easy-going. If we were to say
who could match our CEO, it would undoubtedly be Mr. Xu."
Lin Hao couldn't bear to hear more of the security guard's praises. He was overwhelmed by the
repeated mention of "Xu family" and "Mr. Xu."
He gritted his teeth, "It's the Xu family again…"
Unaware of Lin Hao's growing unease, the security guard continued his enthusiastic description
of Xu Liang.
"Hmm?"
A familiar Rolls-Royce appeared in view, causing the security guard to tense up. He quickly
rushed to open the car door.
As the car approached, he even saluted, nodding and bowing obsequiously. Lin Hao noticed this
scene and frowned. Perhaps by coincidence, the young man sitting in the back seat also looked at
him.
For a moment, their eyes locked, and Lin Hao saw a hint of mockery in the young man's gaze.
He was sure they had never met before, so why would he look at him that way?
"Who is that person?" Lin Hao inquired.
"He's the Mr. Xu I mentioned earlier," the security guard replied.
Boom!
Lin Hao's expression changed, and his demeanor turned fierce, as if he were a beast about to
pounce on its prey. This Mr. Xu had recently become close to Liu Ruolan and was likely the
person trying to steal her from him.
As Lin Hao took a few steps to follow, he was blocked by the security guard. "Brother, don't
make it difficult for me. You better leave now."
Frustrated, Lin Hao suppressed his anger. It was broad daylight, and he couldn't barge in
forcefully. Calling the police would only complicate things. So, reluctantly, he waited for Mr. Xu
to come out.
