Slan| » aelsialer2& CHAPTER - 8: INTRODUCTION OF TRIGONOMETRY
% Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics. Using some techniques of
‘trigonometry, we can find heights and distances,
In English, trigonometry is called Trigonometry. The word ‘Trigonometry’ is |
derived from the Greek words ‘Tri (three), ‘gon’ (sides), ‘metron’ (measure).
Trigonometry is the study of the relationship between the sides and angles
of a triangle.
In trigonometry, we study the ratios of the sides of a right-angled triangle
‘with respect to its acute angles. These ratios are called trigonometric ratios.
tT (\ ‘We use the Greek letter 8 (theta) to represent an angle,
B Adjacent Side C In a right-angled triangle, the hypotenuse is the longest side, Therefore,
the values of sin @ and cos @ are equal to or less than 1, while the values
of sec 6 and cosec 6 are equal to or greater than 1.
