In the contemporary era, opinions are divided on whether governments should prioritize
upgrading public transportation or improving road infrastructure. While a well-developed
road network enhances overall driving convenience, I believe that investing in public transit is
more critical as it addresses both environmental and economic issues.
On the one hand, enhancing the quality of investing more money in improving roads brings
significant benefits to a nation. First and foremost, well- maintained roads play an integral
part in ỉmoving the overall quality of transport, which creates the sustainable infrastructure of
one country. Particularly. Rough and damaged roads can slow down daily commuting and the
process of transporting commodities from one place to others. Furthermore, enhanced road
systems significantly increase the attractiveness of one nation. For instance, in Vietnam, many
roads not only in the countryside but also in small cities are currently rough and uneven.
Therefore, improving the quality of roads can improve the aesthetics in the eyes of the
international community.
On the other hand, I agree with those who believe that public transportation exerts a
profound impact on modern society. The primary reason is that such investments contribute
significantly to environmental protection. Specifically, promoting public transit over private
vehicle usage is an effective countermeasure against worsening air quality and broader
environmental degradation. Additionally, expanding mass transit systems is highly cost-
effective for both governments and citizens. Decreasing the reliance on private vehicles is
also instrumental in urban modernization. To be precise, densely populated countries like
Japan or China have successfully integrated mass transit to minimize commuter costs and
create world-class, sustainable infrastructure.
In conclusion, although improving roads enhances international aesthetics and infrastructure
quality, I personally think that spending on public transit is more important. This approach
effectively addresses environmental problems and allows governments to allocate budgets to
other urbanization sectors.
