Urban areas face challenges in harnessing wind energy due to variable and
turbulent wind conditions. Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) offer a potential
solution, but traditional Savonius and Darrieus designs have limitations in
efficiency and self-starting capabilities. This research aims to develop a
hybrid VAWT that combines the advantages of both rotor configurations to
improve output in low-wind and turbulent urban environments. Computational
fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, including wind pressure contour analysis
and wind particle tracking (OpenFoam), were conducted to analyze the
aerodynamic behavior of the Savonius and Darrieus rotors. The hybrid design
integrates the self-starting capability of the Savonius rotor with the higher
efficiency of the Darrieus rotor. Online simulations evaluated power output,
tip speed ratio, and cost efficiency. The hybrid turbine achieved a power
coefficient (Cp) of approximately 0.33 at a TSR of 1.2. Representing a 15%
improvement over traditional Savonius designs. This configuration optimized
energy generation in multidirectional and variable wind conditions typical of
urban landscapes, all while remaining 25% more cost efficient than both the
Savonius and Darrieus combined when comparing power per area. The hybrid
Savonius-Darrieus turbine presents a promising solution for urban wind energy
generation, combining the benefits of both rotor types. Our ongoing research
includes prototype construction and real-world testing to validate simulation

results. We are also building a hybrid prototype with an expanded radius and a
clamping mechanism to allow it to wrap around a lamp post and connect to its
circuitry, providing a seamless integration into urban infrastructure.

I am working in Dr. Richard Lee's Lab at the HCRB department.

Currently there is no effective way of editing mitochondrial DNA. MELAS is a

rare, progressive genetic disorder affecting impacting the nervous system and
muscles with symptoms like seizures, headaches, vomiting, and stroke-like
attacks. We aim to modify Cas9 with a dual authentication factor to accurately
edit the mutation in mito-DNA causing MELAS. We are first growing cortical,
spinal, and cardiac organoids to replicate the disease. Then, developing
prototypes of the Lenti-Virus delivery mechanism to get our Cas9 system
into the Mitochondria, where we will make the edit and test for progress. This
project is progressing towards a publication in 2026.

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Principal Investigator
August 2025 - December 2025 (5 months)
As Principal Investigator, I led the conceptualization, scientific direction, and
execution of this project, overseeing both the research strategy and team
coordination from inception through proposal development. I participated in
NASA-run workshops for approximately four hours per week, where I engaged
with subject-matter experts, refined experimental design, and incorporated
agency feedback into the project’s technical and feasibility frameworks.
Beyond these workshops, I committed an additional eight to ten hours
weekly to independent research, literature review, gene candidate curation,
experimental planning, and iterative proposal writing. I was responsible for
synthesizing biological and engineering components into a cohesive research
plan, setting milestones, and ensuring alignment with mission constraints
relevant to spaceflight and Mars analog environments. In parallel, I facilitated
team-building activities, delegated tasks based on individual strengths,
coordinated regular meetings, and fostered collaborative problem-solving to
maintain momentum and accountability. Through this role, I ensured both
the scientific rigor of the project and the effective functioning of the team,

NeuroNuggets
Founder and Editor-In-Chief
February 2024 - September 2025 (1 year 8 months)
NeuroNuggets is a Science Communications initiative I started where we

MIT’s MITES Semester program is a research and college access program.

I got to work with talented PhD professors, mentors, and peers on a final
project. My project was about finding specific genes and proteins in UV
resistant extremophillic microorganisms and implementing them into
Arabidopsis. Our goal was to enhance a plant’s UV resistance by increasing
its expression of the DSup protein, which in turn would prevent DNA damage.
I also got to develop my science writing skills by creating and publishing an
article on the mechanisms of Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells on cardiomyocyte
regeneration.

Harmony Senior Services

Activities Assistant
January 2024 - October 2024 (10 months)
Ohio, United States

As a Life Enrichment Assistant in a senior nursing home, I support residents’

overall well-being by planning and leading engaging activities that promote
social, emotional, and physical health. I help organize daily programs like
games, crafts, music, and fitness classes, while ensuring each activity is
inclusive and tailored to individual needs. I build meaningful relationships with
residents, encourage participation, and assist in creating a positive, vibrant
environment. I also document engagement, collaborate with staff across
departments, and help coordinate special events. My goal is to enrich lives
with compassion, creativity, and connection every day.

STEMnosis
STEMnosis research program
June 2024 - August 2024 (3 months)
STEMnosis is an intensive research program allowing us to learn the principles
of research, conduct a meta-analysis on previously published data, and learn
to write our own research paper (I didn’t write a paper, just learned how to
and created a “mini” paper). My research is on engineering biocompatible
nano-particles for enhanced drug delivery for iPSC therapy. For this, I studied
previously published data and discerned which types of nano particles work
best for different therapeutics.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

Public Relations Intern
September 2023 - August 2024 (1 year)
Ohio, United States

I collaborated with a team to create engaging social media content to raise

awareness against drinking and driving as well as driving under the influence.
I also planned multiple social events for all target groups, catering to youth as
well as adults. We executed a 5k race to raise money for impacted families, as
well as organized fundraisers and events at school to directly speak to kids.

Ohio, United States

I have been working at my family-owned Dairy Queen since freshman year of

high school every summer and weekends during school.

Kroger
Environmental Intern
November 2023 - May 2024 (7 months)
Ohio, Ohio, United States

I collaborated with Kroger for a $500 grant to start a Zero Waste project in
my community. I worked with multiple district organizations before finally
partnering with my school's non-profit PTO to start an environmental club.
After planning and marketing the composting project, my team and I invested
in composting equipment and started the project. With a large amount of
participation and community support, we started composting the school's
organic waste, and plan on expanding this upcoming year.
