Software Engineer
Overview
We are looking for an exceptional Software Engineer who enjoys solving difficult engineering
problems, writing high-quality software, and continuously improving systems. You will work across
the entire software development lifecycle, from design through production support, while
maintaining high standards for reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.
This role is ideal for engineers who value craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
Software Development
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications.
• Build scalable, secure, and reliable systems.
• Write clean, modular, and maintainable code.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions.
• Debug complex production issues.
• Optimize application performance.
• Continuously improve existing systems.
Engineering Excellence
• Follow coding standards and best practices.
• Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Produce well-documented solutions.
• Refactor technical debt when appropriate.
• Maintain backward compatibility where required.
Reliability
• Build highly available systems.
• Improve resiliency and fault tolerance.
• Monitor production health.
• Participate in incident response.
• Perform root cause analysis.
• Prevent recurrence through permanent fixes.
Security
• Follow secure coding practices.
• Protect sensitive data.
• Address security vulnerabilities promptly.
• Understand authentication and authorization.

What Success Looks Like
Within the first year, you should be able to independently deliver production-ready features, design
medium-sized systems, improve reliability and performance, reduce operational issues, contribute
to architecture discussions, help improve engineering processes, and mentor less experienced
engineers.
Evaluation Criteria
Problem Solving (25%), Coding Quality (20%), System Design (15%), Debugging (10%), Testing
(10%), Communication (10%), Security & Reliability (5%), Ownership & Collaboration (5%).
Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate
Solves root causes instead of treating symptoms; writes code that teammates can easily
understand; balances speed with quality; thinks about scalability from the beginning; uses data to
drive technical decisions; takes ownership of production systems; values simplicity over
unnecessary complexity; continuously improves engineering practices; is comfortable challenging
assumptions with evidence; maintains high standards while remaining pragmatic.
