📑 PRACTICAL LAB REPORT
🏢
PRACTICAL ACTIVITY 1: Custom Style Implementation
➢ Objective: To create and apply custom Paragraph and Character styles in LibreOffice
Writer for professional formatting.
❖ Step-by-Step Procedure Executed:
1. Opened LibreOffice Writer and saved the file as branding_test.odt.
2. Typed a three-paragraph corporate description for a mock company.
3. Selected Paragraph 1, manually changed the font to Arial, size to 13, and line spacing to
1.5.
4. Opened the Styles Sidebar (F11), clicked the Styles Action Menu (Styles from Selection),
and saved this new state as a custom Paragraph Style named CorpBody.
5. Selected a specific keyword, formatted it as Bold, text color Red, with a Yellow highlight.
Saved this selection as a new Character Style named CorpEmphasis.
6. Activated the Fill Format Tool (Paint Bucket icon) from the sidebar, selected CorpBody,
and quickly dragged it over the remaining paragraphs to instantly copy the formatting.
● Final Output Observation: The custom styles were successfully created and saved in the
user-defined styles pane. The Fill Format tool accurately updated the entire document’s
formatting instantly, ensuring 100% visual consistency without manual re-typing.
📐 PRACTICAL ACTIVITY 2: FLOWCHART BLUEPRINTING &
GROUPING MECHANICS
➢ Objective: To construct a modular, editable systems flowchart using drawing tools and
verify grouping stability during resizing.
➢ Step-by-Step Procedure Executed:
1. Activated the native drawing tools by navigating through the path: View >
Toolbars > Drawing.
2. Selected the Rectangle Rounded tool and drew three sequential processing
boxes on the workspace canvas.
3. Double-clicked inside each box to insert system labels: Start, Process Data, and
End.
4. Selected the Line with Arrow tool from the toolbar to logically connect the three
boxes in a top-to-bottom sequence.
5. Held down the Shift key and clicked on every individual rectangle and arrow
connector until all items were simultaneously highlighted.
6. Executed the Group command by navigating to Format > Group > Group (or
using shortcut Ctrl + Shift + G).
Scale Observation & Inference:After grouping, the entire flowchart behaved as a single
unified graphic object. When pulling the corner edge sizing handle to resize the diagram, all
scale proportions remained 100% intact. The internal text, rectangles, and arrow connectors
scaled down perfectly in unison without overlapping or breaking alignment.
