SPEAKING
TOPIC: TECHNOLOGY
1. What technology do you often use, computers or cellphones?
A: I tend to use my cellphone more often than a computer.
R: This is mainly because modern smartphones combine both software and hardware in a very
convenient way.
E: For example, I can study, communicate, and even work on my phone thanks to recent
innovations and mobile applications.
A: However, when it comes to more complex tasks, I still prefer using a computer.
2. What electronic devices have you bought lately?
A: Recently, I bought a new pair of wireless earphones.
R: This is because they are part of the latest technological innovation and offer better sound
quality.
E: For instance, they use advanced hardware that allows noise cancellation, which is very useful
when I study.
A: However, I think technology products are becoming more expensive due to rapid progress.
3. Is there any technology you want to buy?
A: Yes, I’d like to buy a device that uses artificial intelligence.
R: This is because AI technology is becoming more advanced and useful in daily life.
E: For example, some AI tools can help with studying or even automate simple tasks.
A: However, I would need to do some investigation before buying one to make sure it’s worth
the money.
4. Is technology important in your life?
A: Yes, technology plays a crucial role in my life.
R: This is because it has led to significant progress in how we work and communicate.
E: For instance, thanks to automation and AI, many tasks can now be done faster and more
efficiently.
A: However, I think people should not become too dependent on technology.
5. Is there any technology you don’t like?
A: Yes, I’m not a big fan of overly automated systems.
R: This is because too much automation can reduce human interaction.
E: For example, some services now rely entirely on artificial intelligence instead of real people,
which can feel impersonal.
A: On the flip side, I understand that automation improves efficiency.
6. What do you think are the trends in technology today compared to when you were
young?
A: I think technology today is much more advanced and intelligent than in the past.
R: This is mainly due to rapid innovation and technological revolution over the years.
E: For example, when I was younger, devices were quite basic, but now we have AI-powered
systems and smart devices.
A: However, this rapid progress also brings some concerns, such as privacy issues.
7. What are the benefits of technology?
A: Technology brings many benefits to our lives.
R: This is because it improves efficiency and supports human development.
E: For instance, inventions like computers and the internet have completely changed how we
learn and communicate.
A: However, despite these advantages, technology can also create problems if it is overused.

TRUE-FALSE-NOT GIVEN
Common Mistakes:
1. Đừng bị lừa bởi “từ giống nhau”
Matching meaning, không phải matching words
Tương tự ≠ giống hoàn toàn → có thể FALSE
Ví dụ:
o all ≠ most → FALSE
o 30% of all deaths ≠ 30% of cancer deaths → FALSE
2. Nhận diện bẫy từ “nhạy cảm”
Nhóm 1: Tần suất / số lượng
all / always (100%)
most / mainly (~70–90%)
some / often / occasionally (ít hơn)
Khác nhau → FALSE
🔹 Nhóm 2: Động từ không chắc chắn
claim / believe / suggest
Không xác nhận sự thật → dễ NOT GIVEN
Ví dụ:
Passage: He claimed he was British
Question: He is British → NOT GIVEN
3. Paraphrase = đổi từ nhưng giữ nghĩa
Đây là lúc chọn TRUE
Không giống từ nhưng cùng ý → TRUE
Có thể phải suy luận logic nhẹ
4. Khi nào là NOT GIVEN?
Khi:
Không đủ thông tin
Hoặc bài không đề cập trực tiếp
❗ Không suy luận quá xa
Ví dụ:
Bài nói về ớt nhỏ
Câu hỏi hỏi ớt lớn → NOT GIVEN
PRACTICE:
In 1769, James Watt introduced an improved steam engine in Scotland. While earlier versions
already existed, Watt’s design significantly enhanced efficiency and contributed to industrial
progress. Some historians claim that this invention marked the beginning of the Industrial
Revolution, although others argue that it was only one of several important developments.
In 1956, a group of scientists at Dartmouth College formally discussed the concept of artificial
intelligence (AI). It is often believed that this event created AI as a field; however, research had
already been conducted for many years prior to this meeting. Early attempts focused on the
conversion of human reasoning into machine processes, but results were limited.
Today, countries such as Japan invest heavily in automation, particularly in manufacturing. In
some factories, machines perform most tasks, although human workers are still required for
supervision. This shift depends on advanced hardware, which is not always affordable for
smaller companies.
Although technological innovation has brought many benefits, it does not affect all countries
equally. In fact, some regions have experienced little change despite global technological
progress.
1. James Watt invented the first steam engine in 1769.
2. All historians agree that Watt’s invention started the Industrial Revolution.
3. The idea of AI was first created at Dartmouth College in 1956.
4. AI research did not exist before 1956.
5. Machines in modern factories completely replace human workers.
6. Automation systems are affordable for all companies.
7. Technological progress has benefited every country equally.
8. Some regions have not experienced significant technological change.
