SITE INSPECTION & ASSESSMENT REPORT
Project Name: ARYAS Aravindam
Subject :( Subsoil Groundwater Observation & HDPE Waterproofing Requirement below Raft Area.)
Date: 5th MAY 2026
1. Executive Summary
During the site activity for the Plate Load Test at the Arvindam Project, subsoil excavation was carried
out up to a depth of 2.0 m from the Natural Ground Level (NGL). Visual inspection and photographic
evidence confirm that the pit remains completely dry with no water ingress observed from the ground.
Based on these findings and the levels of the proposed excavation, the subsoil is observed to be free
from groundwater up to the founding level, suggesting that HDPE membrane waterproofing below the
raft area may not be required.
2. Elevation & Excavation Levels
Natural Ground Level (NGL): 16.50 m
Raft PCC Bottom Level: 14.90 m
Proposed Maximum Excavation Depth: 1.60 m
Test Excavation Depth Achieved: 2.00 m
3. Key Site Observations
Subsoil & Groundwater Conditions:
Excavation for the Plate Load Test was performed to 2.00 m depth, which is 0.40 m deeper than the
required excavation level for the Raft PCC bottom (1.60 m).
At 2.00 m depth, no groundwater seepage, dampness, or water ingress from the surrounding soil strata
was observed. The subsoil conditions remained dry and stable throughout the test setup.
Plate Load Test Setup (as per attached site photographs):
Photo 1: Shows the setup of the hydraulic jack, datum bars, dial gauges, and bearing plate positioned at
the test bed level, demonstrating completely dry soil strata surrounding the test point.
Photo 2: Shows the excavator used as a reaction frame directly over the excavation pit, confirming dry
working conditions across the excavated base.
4. Conclusion & Recommendation
Since the proposed raft excavation depth (1.60 m) will strictly remain within the already verified dry
depth (2.00 m), the subsoil at the foundation founding level is confirmed to be free from groundwater.
Recommendation: Based on current subsoil conditions, HDPE membrane waterproofing beneath the
raft area appears to be unnecessary.
5. Action Required
Kindly review the observations and attached site documentation above to provide your
concurrence/approval on waiving the HDPE membrane waterproofing below the raft area so that
further foundation works can proceed accordingly.
