The document outlines the specifications for electrical service installation, including conductor size, conduit diameter, and overcurrent protection. It specifies using 2 pcs. of 3.5 mm2 no. 12 AWG copper wire for service conductors and 2 pcs. of 8.0 mm2 no. 8 AWG copper wire for service entrance conductors, with a total current load of 24.24 amps after applying a demand factor. Additionally, it details the use of a 30-amp fuse and a safety switch for the main disconnecting means.

SECTION: BSCE 2B

MODULE 11
230 volts
3. Determine the size of the service conductor
Use 2 pcs. 3.5 mm2 no. 12 AWG TW copper wire (min)
4. Determine the size of the conduit pipe
Use 15 mm diameter pipe (min)
5. Over current protection
Use 20 amp. Fuse (min)

NOTE: 80% OF 20 AMP = 16 AMP. This is higher than 15.65 amp as computed. Therefore, it is safe and
acceptable

D) SERVICE ENTRANCE CONDUCTOR

1. Determine the total current load from A to C

Total Current = Total connected load = 800 + 2160 + 3600 = 28.52 amp
Voltage rating 230
2. Apply 85% demand factor as permitted by PEC.
28.52 x 0.85 = 24.24 amp
3. Determine the size of the wire
Use 2 pcs. 8.0 mm2 No. 8 AWG TW copper wire

[Link] the conduit diameter

Use 20 mm diameter

NOTE: A demand factor of 85% was used considering that not all receptacles and outlets are used
simultaneously. This is classified as non-continuous load. It will be noted that a 5.5 mm2 copper
conductor has 30 amp. Capacity which is bigger than 24.4 amp. As a computer. The question why an 8.0
mm2 was specified follows the PEC specification which states that “Service entrance shall have sufficient
ampacity to carry the load. They shall have adequate mechanical strength and shall not be smaller than
8.0mm2 (3.2 mm diameter) except for installation to supply limited load of a single branch circuit such as
small poly phase power, controlled water heaters and the like, they shall not be smaller than 3.5 mm2
copper or equivalent.

E) MAIN DISCONNECTING MEANS OR SAFETY SWITCH

1. The total current load from A to C = 24.24 amp
2. Use 2 pcs. 30-amp fuse parallel connection (60 amp) 2 pole single throw (P.S.T.) 250 VOLTS SAFETY
SWITCH. Provided 2 double branch circuit cut-out with two 15 and two 20 amp - fuse respectively
• In protecting the branch circuit, what is being protected is the live wire. The other line, which is grounded,
or zero volt is no longer protected by fuse. This is one of the advantages of the Electric cooperative multiground
system
