RESEARCH-BASED ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

1. INTRODUCTION (3 MARKS)

Student Must:

 Introduce the topic clearly.


 Provide background information.
 Explain why the topic is important.
 State the purpose of the research.

Lecturer Will Look For:

 Clear focus of the study.


 Logical background.
 Relevance to the programme/trade.
 Clear statement of research intent.

2. PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION / PROBLEM STATEMENT (3 MARKS)

Student Must:

 Clearly define the research problem.


 Explain why it is a problem.
 Show the gap that needs investigation.

Lecturer Will Look For:

 Specific and focused problem statement.


 Logical justification.
 Evidence that the student understands the issue.

3. DEFINITION OF KEY TERMS / CONTEXT (2 MARKS)

Student Must:

 Define important technical terms.


 Clarify scope and context.
