From my experience helping with a family's farmland and managing agricultural work, I know how much

farmers struggle farming. The farmers depend much on unpredictable factors such as weather, prices,
productivity, or access to information.

The main problem in our farm and our society is making decisions without reliable data and difficulty
knowing real-time market demand and supply, which affects the price they sell their products for. For
example, the carrot, which is the main product of our rural area, has very fluctuating prices due to
supply. Farmers in our society most of the time end up selling their carrots at low prices. And
sometimes, seeing past low prices, they miss the opportunity to sell at a high at present.

From these community problems and my interest in data science, I see that agriculture is not only about
planting and harvesting. It is also about information and decisions. Better data can help farmers decide
what to grow, when to grow it, how to use the resources, and where the opportunities [Link]
my experience in web development and what I will learn from DataCamp, I want to develop and
contribute to tools that help Ethiopian farmers.

The main tool I want to develop is a platform in which farmers understand crop and market data,
connect production with market demand, and make better decisions. This will help young people see
agriculture as an area of innovation rather than traditional labor, which potentially will create many
agricultural technology initiatives and businesses.

In the end, I don’t want technology to take me away from agriculture. I want it to take me deeper into it.
