Raising fuel prices for vehicles is sometimes believed to be the best solution to cope

with international environmental issues. I disagree as I think this policy is not the most
impactful measure and there are several effective alternatives to tackle these
problems.

On the one hand, if the tax on fuel is raised, the environmental issues can be solved to
a degree. This is because people tend to use public transport instead of using their
own vehicles in order that they can save an amount of money spent on fuel. As a
result, the reduction in car use leads to a decrease in the exhaust fumes from vehicles.
The environment may therefore become less polluted due to lower levels of
greenhouse gasses emitted from personal cars. Raising fuel costs could be an
appropriate measure to respond to extreme, short-term environmental problems.

On the other hand, I do not believe that raising petrol costs is the best way to address
such big problems. An alternative way suggested to solve these is using vehicles with
clean energy. Although the petrol cost rises, it can not completely eliminate people’s
travel needs. Electric motorbikes and cars are the types/forms/means of vehicles that
can be taken into consideration. Furthermore, these means of transport are no longer
unfamiliar to the majority of people in recent years, and this could be employed in
many parts of the world to minimize global dependence on fossil fuels as well. Besides,
if the price of petrol increases, the national economy could suffer many unfavorable
consequences, such as inflation due to higher fuel prices.

In conclusion, increasing fuel costs can partly solve the world’s environmental problems
by discouraging the use of private vehicles. However, the alternative solutions
mentioned above can be considered to implement in order to deal with this situation.
