ENGINEERING DRAWING ASSIGNMENT

QUESTION 1

A pentagonal prism, side of base 25 mm and altitude 50 mm, rests on its base on
the HP such that an edge of the base is parallel to VP and nearer to the observer . It
is cut by a plane inclined at 45° to HP, perpendicular to VP and passing through
the center of the axis.

Draw the development of the complete surfaces of the truncated prism.

QUESTION 2

Using suitable drawing instruments, reproduce the given component to full


size.

(a) Draw the components accurately, ensuring that all circles, tangential
arcs and radii are correctly constructed.

(b) Complete the drawings by adding the centre lines, dimensions, radius
notations and a neat finished outline in accordance with BS 8888 standards.

QUESTION THREE

a) Draw ellipse by oblong method. Draw a parallelogram of 100 mm and 70 mm


long sides with included angle of [Link] Ellipse in it. (10MARKS)
b) Major axis AB & minor axis CD are 100 & 70mm long respectively. Draw ellipse
by arcs of circles method. (10MARKS)
QUESTION 4

A). Construction of a Triangle Given Two Base Angles and Height


Construct a triangle ABC in which:
• Base angles are:
o ∠A = 60°
o ∠B = 75°
• The height (altitude) from vertex C to base AB is 60 mm.
Construct the triangle using suitable drawing instruments and show all
construction lines. (10MARKS)

B). Construction of a Triangle Given the Perimeter and Ratio of Sides


Construct triangle PQR having:
• Perimeter = 180 mm
• Ratio of sides = 3 : 4 : 5
Determine the lengths of the three sides. (10MARKS)
