HIGHLIGHTS OF PAT RULES

The Placement and Training team welcomes all the eligible students to take an active part in the
Placement Process for the Academic Session 2025-2026. The PAT Team will extend all the possible
support to the students. The Placement Team will help in achieving the best placement results in the
given condition. It is only with the assistance and full cooperation of all the students and alumni, the
recruiting organizations will come to this Institute as their most favored destination. The role of the
PAT Teaml is of a facilitator and counsellor for placement related activities. It does NOT guarantee a
job to a student even on his/her being registered with the cell. Placement Registration is for ONE
ACADEMIC YEAR ONLY. Campus placement is a facility provided for the students. Registration is not
compulsory. Students not interested in placement are advised not to register for placement. Higher
studies students are not eligible to register for placement. The Placement registration fee will not be
refunded under any circumstance. Students have to upload and submit their resumes on the website
to individual companies well before the deadline. Resume once submitted to the company cannot be
modified. DEADLINES WILL NOT BE EXTENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. A student who applies
and gets shortlisted for interviews is bound to go through the entire selection process unless rejected
midway by the company. Any student who withdraws deliberately in the middle of a selection
process will be disallowed from placement for the rest of the academic year.

Placement Norms

Note:

1. Super Dream(Internship), Dream(Internship), Dream(Core) will be specified in the placement


notice

2. Students who plan for higher studies are eligible to take only the IT Services companies offer
(CTC – less than 6 LPA). IT Services or regular offer will be specified on top of the notice.
3. Students dropping the Dream/ Super Dream (internship/fulltime) offer after selection, in any
of the above categories will have to do one additional course and they will also be not be allowed for
further placements

4. Students withdrawing from internship before /after joining the company also will be considered
as “dropping of offer”

Violation of PAT Norms:

1. Students planning for higher studies are not eligible for Dream/Super Dream offers. They are
allowed to attend only Software services company’s interviews (Like TCS, Cognizant, Infosys etc.). VIT
will not issue “No Objection certificate” or recommendation letters to those students who get
selected in Dream /Super dream companies and later plan to pursue their higher education.
Dream /Super dream companies will be notified in PAT notices.

2. Students who reject a Dream or Super Dream offer (Placement or Internship) after getting
selected; have to do an additional academic course to complete their degree requirements. The
academic course has to be completed in the final semester (no extension shall be given). The details
of the academic course to be completed will be shared by the Dean (Academics) later. This also
applies to the students who get Pre Placement Offers after the summer internships. The earlier rule
of not getting the recommendation letter from the Professors for higher education also would
remain. "Once the higher PAT/CDC offer is declined by the student, all the previous offers through
PAT will also get cancelled/not considered"

3. Only registered students will be allowed for campus interviews and other training programs
organized by the placement center. Those students attending campus interviews without registering
and not fulfilling the eligibility criteria (as on date of selection test) would be summarily rusticated
from the University for Bringing Disgrace to the University.

4. Students with N or F grades should not register now. After the publication of the results of the
exams there would be another registration exclusively for the students who would become eligible.
They can pay the fees after that. Similarly any one becoming “with arrear(s)/(N or F)” should not
attend any interview till “cleared”.

5. It is found that Students who get placed in Dream or Super Dream are violating the PAT norms
and attending the off campus placements. Students who get placed with on campus full
time/internship placement (dream or super dream) must accept the offer without fail and cannot
decline. Those who are going to get placed in Dream or Super Dream placements should follow the
PAT norms. Students who are violating the norms will face severe disciplinary action.
6. The student consents to the use of their photos for promotional purposes

Note:

All the companies allow students with no current arrears for the selection process.

PAT Category

Category Details

Category I 60 % in 10th, 12th, UG and PG as applicable and no year gap in studies.

Category II 60 % in 10th, 12th, UG and PG as applicable and upto 2 year gap in studies.

Category III 60 % in 10th /12th /UG and more than 2 year gap in studies.

Category IV Less than 60 % in 10th /12th /UG and upto 2 year gap in studies.

Category V Less than 60 % in 10th /12th /UG and more than 2 year gap in studies.

*Gap in studies is counted from your Xth STD.

*Work experience is also counted as an academic gap.

Important Note:

1. Registration is purely voluntary.

2. It is informed that students in category III, IV and V may not expect many companies as almost
all the companies visiting VIT for Campus Placement insist on 60% consistency and less than 2 years
gap (i.e. category I and II). Hence PAT registration is as per your discretion/decision only.

3. All the companies allow students with no current arrears for the selection process.

4. Registration for other campus students will be done separately by their respective campus.

5. N and F grades are considered to be arrears by the industry. Hence, it will be counted as current
arrears.

6. Please note that PAT registration fee once paid is NOT REFUNDABLE.

7. Students who have a backlog in extracurricular course and non-credit course are allowed to
register now. But they should complete / clear the same on or before 15th July 2025.

General Placement Rules:

1. VIT Bhopal is a fully residential campus, and it is recommended that students reside in the
hostel during the placement process to ensure seamless participation.
2. Placement registration requires a one-time fee payment and is valid for one academic year
only.

3. Placement enrollment fee is not refundable however students can withdraw any time from
the placement process.

4. The Placement registration cannot be rolled forward to the next year in case the candidate
does not get placed.

5. The University arranges for a wide variety of measures such as webinars, immersion
initiatives, alumni mock interviews, vendor mock interviews, mandatory self study process,
mandatory daily or weekly reporting, regular training and coaching processes. Some of these
initiatives are compulsory and students who do not attend them will be blocked.

6. In general, all unplaced students after Jan 1 will be coming to the University every day and
doing self-study in the lab to get placed.

7. All students must register on the CDC portal within the stipulated time using the link
provided by the placement cell.

8. Students must not have any standing "N" or "F" grades at the time of placement process
enrollment or during the process.

9. In case of any N or F Grades, they will not be eligible to sit in placement.

10. A minimum of 60% marks or a 6.0 CGPA in 10th and 12th (for UG programs) and in UG
programs (for PG programs) is mandatory for placement enrollment.

11. In case, the student is found to indulge in any academic misconduct, non-reporting for the
daily or weekly reporting or any process mandated by the PAT Team, the candidate will be
blocked.

12. In case the candidate is blocked, the candidate can appeal to the PAT Team. The PAT Team
will decide or refer to the PAT Disciplinary committee that does not have any involvement of
the PAT Team. The student can appeal the decisions of the PAT Team to the PAT Disciplinary
committee. The PAT Disciplinary committee’s decision will be final and binding. The Parent
and student agree to abide by this and not appeal to any other authority. (Internal to the
University such as other members such as PCs or Deans or external to the University such as
courts).

13. Placement enrollment will close on December 1st of the academic year. No further
enrollments or unblocking for the process will be possible beyond this date.

14. The placement process may begin as early as 6:00 AM and may continue late into the night.
Day scholar students must arrange their own transportation and permissions

15. Students will receive updates about company visits through email notifications. They are
advised to check announcements regularly and review the respective company websites.

16. Participation in all campus recruitment drives is mandatory for eligible students until they
secure placement. Failure to attend will result in blacklisting from the further placement
process.

17. Deadlines for company registration will not be extended under any circumstances.
18. Students who register for a placement process must attend it. Failure to do so will disqualify
them from further placement opportunities.

19. The CGPA on the CDC portal will be updated by the CDC office based on data from the COE’s
office. Students may update other academic details as needed on the portal.

20. Shortlisting decisions made by recruiting companies are based on various parameters,
including but not limited to CGPA. Students are not permitted to question the shortlisting
criteria.

21. Students who apply for a company and are shortlisted must complete the entire selection
process unless explicitly rejected midway by the company. Withdrawal from the process
without valid reasons will result in disqualification from placements for the remainder of the
academic year.

22. Students arriving late for aptitude tests, group discussions, or interviews will not be allowed
to participate in the selection process and may be blocked pending the process.

23. Any direct offers received by a student from a company must be promptly reported to the
placement office.

24. Students are solely responsible for reviewing their offer letters and completing any required
actions, such as submitting documents to the company.

25. Students must submit their offer letters to complete the degree process once they receive
them.

26. CDC will try to schedule recruitments without having clashes. If there is a clash in timings,
then you should follow the CDC’s instructions in attending the process.

27. Students must adhere to the prescribed dress code for all company processes:

28. Boys and Girls: Plain white formal shirt, black formal trousers, and black formal shoes.

29. Heels and above-ankle-length trousers are not allowed.

Disciplinary Guidelines:

1. Students are expected to maintain discipline and demonstrate ethical behavior throughout
the placement process. Any student found violating these norms or defaming the institution
will be barred from placement activities for the rest of the academic year.

2. Students are prohibited from contacting company representatives or HR delegates directly.


Any concerns must be routed through the designated Placement Officer.

3. In general, the students must demonstrate intent to get placed by working on the portals like
GFG or Leetcode or other portals, work on CDC portal regularly and apply to at least 60% of
the eligible companies. Anyone not applying to less than 60% of the eligible companies can
be subject to the PAT committee norms and they can be asked to come to the Univ everyday
for self study or be suspended pending counseling. Same for the CDC portal and other
portals. The intent of these rules is to encourage the students to be sincere and working
continuously. In case a student wishes to apply to only companies in a certain domain, they
can withdraw from placement and focus on the patvitblionsver2 group where domain based
companies are encouraged.
4. Students found cheating or misbehaving during any stage of the selection process
(PPT/Test/Group Discussion/Interview) will be immediately disqualified from placements.
They will be subjected to the PAT disciplinary committee process.

5. Students under disciplinary review will have their CDC portal access blocked until the
committee decides.

6. Students must not question companies about selection decisions. Selection is solely at the
discretion of the company. Any unruly behavior that tarnishes the institute's reputation will
render the student ineligible for future placements and subject them to disciplinary action.

7. Attendance on all reporting dates specified by the placement cell is mandatory. Failure to
report will result in blocking and referral to the disciplinary committee.

8. The University is not held responsible if the candidate is not finally offered any position in a
company due to whatever reason. Companies can withdraw their offers or delays in the
joining. In such cases, the University tries to help in whatever way possible by offers and
mails in the patvitbver2 group.

9. Students are not allowed to carry mobile phones, tablet PCs, laptops. calculators or any
electronic device during the Online/Written Placement Test unless it is specified.

10. Any sort of misbehaviour/misconduct on the part of students, which affects the decorum of
the PPT or the selection process or the reputation of the Institute, including asking
inappropriate/embarrassing questions, coming in inappropriate attire and not possessing the
ID card, will result in the student being debarred from sitting in the further process pending
appeal

11. It is expected that a student shall NOT enter any wrong/fraudulent/misleading information
in his/her resume. On violation of this rule, the student would be debarred.

12. If any student fails to attend any pre-placement talks / presentations / workshops by the
company, he/she will not be allowed for that particular company’s recruitment process
(attendance is compulsory if the student has applied/pre-registered for any company).

13. All students are advised to check the company profile and background of each company
thoroughly before applying. Kindly make informed decisions BEFORE applying to any
company on campus.

14. Selected students will be intimated by the PAT Team via Email or portal. After this stage the
student would be required to accept the offer

15. In case of multiple offers, the decision of CDC Team or PAT Team will be final.

16. The PAT team would NOT be liable for any default from the company's end at any stage later.
Once the student applies to a company, all rules as per student policy will apply. If any
student fails to attend the placement process after registering for the company, he/she will
be debarred

17. There are cases where a company may offer a different profile or a lower CTC (against what
was mentioned in JD) to a student during the interview process. This issue has to be sorted
out by the student with the company at the time of interview itself. In such a case, the
decision of the PAT team or PAT committee and the decision is final. The job earned by a
student of this kind will amount to his/her categorization as a placed student for all
purposes.

18. Placement students are not eligible for Higher studies Letters of Recommendation or
Bonafide for higher studies or for transcripts. This is applicable for 1 year after graduation.

19. The student must not tell that interview team or the HR that they do not want to join the
company. In such a case the PAT committee will apply a penalty for the student.

20. In case the student gets an offer from a company after the CDC offer, the CDC offer is final.
Not the offer from the other company from CDC.

21. During online tests, students must ensure that no unauthorized communication clients (e.g.,
email, messaging platforms) are active on their devices.

22. Students must carry their institutional identity cards at all times during placement activities.
Impersonation will result in immediate disqualification.

23. Students or their parents/guardians must not directly contact placement office members or
HRs or any other members under any circumstances by mail or phone. Attempts to influence
the process will result in permanent blacklisting from placements. They can come in person
and discuss their issues with the PAT [Link] general all the University to parent
communication is through the Proctor only.

24. Declining Dream and Super Dream offers will lead to registration for 2 additional courses or
more as suggested by the disciplinary committee. The courses must be completed for the
student to be eligible for graduation over and above their 160 or 180 credits process.

25. Students can avail at any one time 10 days leave subject to the approval of placement cell
and disciplinary committee during the placement year for medical emergencies. This medical
leave cannot be clubbed with holidays or split into segments of days. For such a process, the
student can meet the PAT Team and get approval or mail to patqueries mail id from the date
of their illness. They must also produce the documents once they come to the University. It is
the discretion of the PAT committee to accept or reject the claims of medical leave. For a
better chance, the proctor or PC’s recommendation will help. But the PAT disciplinary
committee may reject claims where the documentation is not proper or not consistent with
the norms.

26. Students can avail at any one time 5 days leave subject to the approval of placement cell and
disciplinary committee during the placement year for the special occasions such as sibling’s
marriage or any special occasion. Those who avail medical leave are not eligible for this. The
approval for this must be taken prior to the process from the PAT Team.

27. During all other periods of absence, the portal will remain blocked. The PAT team and PAT
disciplinary committee can sanction leaves but their decision is final.

The Placement cell reserves the right to override any of the above rules in special circumstances
and also include additional rules after giving a 5 day notice period during which the students can
withdraw from placement and use their discretion to act on matters not covered by the above
rules.

We / I have read and understood the contents of this 5 page annexure and assure to abide by the
rules. The Parent and student agree to abide by this and not appeal to any other authority. (Internal
to the University such as other members such as PCs or Deans or external to the University such as
courts).
