Discovering Science
Science helps us understand the world around us. Scientists ask questions, observe things,
do experiments, and study the results.
There are many different areas of science. Biology is the study of living things, such as
plants, animals, and humans. Chemistry studies materials and how they change. Physics
studies things such as energy, movement, light, and sound.
Scientists work in many different places. Some work in laboratories, while others work
outside, in hospitals, on farms, or in space centers.
Experiments are an important part of science. Scientists can test an idea by doing an
experiment. They carefully observe what happens and write down their results.
Science is also useful in everyday life. It helps us understand medicine, technology, food,
weather, transportation, and the environment.
Science is always changing because scientists continue to discover new things. There are
still many questions about our planet and the universe that we do not know the answers to.
