1. Introduction
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application used for calculations, data analysis, charts and
reporting.
2. Excel Interface
Main Parts: Title Bar -> Quick Access Toolbar -> Ribbon -> Name Box -> Formula Bar ->
Worksheet Area -> Sheet Tabs -> Status Bar.
3. Workbook & Worksheet
Workbook = Excel file. Worksheet = one sheet inside workbook. Rows are numbered, columns use
letters, cells are identified like A1.
4. Cell References
Relative: A1, Absolute: $A$1, Mixed: A$1 or $A1.
5. Basic Formulas
=SUM(A1:A10), =AVERAGE(A1:A10), =MAX(), =MIN(), =COUNT()
6. Logical Functions
IF, AND, OR, IFERROR with examples.
7. Lookup Functions
VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, INDEX+MATCH.
8. Charts
Column, Bar, Line, Pie, Scatter.
9. Pivot Tables
Summarize large datasets quickly.
10. Sorting & Filtering
Arrange ascending/descending and filter records.
11. Data Validation
Create drop-down lists and restrict input.
12. Conditional Formatting
Highlight values using rules.
13. Keyboard Shortcuts
Ctrl+C Copy, Ctrl+V Paste, Ctrl+S Save, F2 Edit, Ctrl+Z Undo, Ctrl+Shift+L Filter.
14. Practice
Create a student marks sheet and calculate Total, Average, Grade using IF.
