Section 1
Piece 1
this is the first piece chosen for its dipiction of accient affrican hair
styl
Piece 2
Chosen for its dipiction of a more rigid beaty style due to western influence
Piece 3
chosen for its dipiction of modern beauty standard with is les expresive nad sifts towrds a less
expressive more compliant
almost like it is trying to fit a rigid pictoral view of beauty
and also the replacement of traditional ideas with western ones
Section 2
Piece 1 shows a picture of westernship, which I used to dipict the inition intention of trade by the
white man as they said
Piece 2
This dipicts how this intention turned to thm dictating our life style, architecture and landscape
leading into colonialism and changing the structure of our land scape
Piece 3 shows the lagos coast line with the currnet situation of the lagos coast line and how every
thing is built on the structure they creeated with us just trying to make the best of what is left and
deal with it
note alll of them are pictures of the lagos coast line
SECTION 3
PIece 1
this shows two african women before colonialisation, which shows the somewhat simple life style we
used to live before the invation and the condition of things
Building surrounded by blue to show stability and calmness
Piece 3
this is a sketch made during the invaation of benin, I chose this imge because it shows that blacks
where aso used in the invation and in also shows that the colonisation of nigeria was not a peaceful
one but and unjust violent killing of the indigens made just to satisfy the english companies desires
red was udes to high light the guns and grsss to show blood or violence
Piece 3
this shows currnt lagos state which I think is the most relatable part of nigera, It is a dipiction of the
chaotic currnt situation of nigeria, build on the “ structure “ the colonisers built
red was used for the building for western influence
Blue for the bridge for strucutre
Yellow to show the iconic yellow busses
The section 1 nad 2 are just objective observations I have made about the situation of nigeria form
pre colonisation before 1861, to colonisation 1861-1960, and colonisation after 1960
section 3 shows my opinions on the matter and general view
For me it is more about bringing the story of nigeria to light for oopen dialog , and to not hide it
la pieces where reimagined to high light key aspects that I feel tell the story better and also stylised<<
so they where not exact ly realsim, so kind of abstract
