1.
Introduction
The Pet Adoption Website is an initiative designed to support the efforts of our NGO in
rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and stray animals. Many animals suffer due
to neglect, abandonment, or lack of awareness regarding animal welfare. Our organization
works tirelessly to provide these animals with proper care, medical support, and a safe
environment. However, reaching potential adopters and spreading awareness through
traditional methods alone has become increasingly challenging.
To address this gap, the proposed website aims to create a user-friendly, accessible, and
informative online platform that connects rescued animals with individuals or families
willing to offer them a loving home. Through a structured and well-organized digital system,
visitors can learn about the NGO’s mission, explore available pets, view adoption procedures,
and understand how they can contribute to animal welfare. The website will also improve
transparency by showcasing real-time information about the animals under our care.
Furthermore, the adoption website will streamline the adoption process by enabling users to
view pet details online and submit adoption requests digitally. This reduces paperwork,
improves communication, and ensures that potential adopters receive accurate and updated
information. By integrating technology with our rescue efforts, the NGO hopes to expand its
reach, increase successful adoptions, and build a stronger community committed to
compassion and animal welfare.

Despite the NGO’s continuous efforts in rescuing and rehabilitating stray and abandoned
animals, the adoption process remains slow and limited due to the lack of a centralized and
accessible information system. Potential adopters often have difficulty finding accurate and
updated details about available pets, and the NGO struggles to manage inquiries,
documentation, and communication manually. This traditional approach not only consumes
time and resources but also reduces the chances of successful adoptions. Therefore, there is a
need for a dedicated digital platform that streamlines the adoption process, increases
visibility, and improves the overall efficiency of connecting rescued animals with suitable
adopters.
3. Objective
• To develop a user-friendly online platform that displays detailed and updated information
on rescued animals available for adoption.
• To streamline the adoption process by providing a digital form system that reduces manual
paperwork and improves communication between the NGO and adopters.
• To increase public awareness and engagement by showcasing the NGO’s rescue activities,
encouraging community involvement, and promoting responsible pet adoption.
4. Development Methodology
The development of the Pet Adoption Website will follow the Waterfall Model, which
divides the project into a series of structured and sequential phases Each phase is described as
follows:
• Requirement Analysis: In this phase, all system requirements are gathered and analyzed
based on the needs of the NGO and the end-users. This includes identifying functional
requirements such as pet listing, adoption form, user interaction, and administrative
controls. Non-functional requirements including usability, security, performance, and
scalability are also defined. The outcome of this phase is a clear understanding of what
the system must achieve.
• System Design: The system design phase focuses on creating the overall architecture of
the website. It involves designing the layout, user interface, database structure, and
workflow diagrams. Wireframes, navigation flow, and component interactions are
planned to ensure a smooth user experience. This phase translates the requirements into a
structured blueprint for implementation.
• Implementation: During implementation, the actual coding and development of the
system take place. The website pages, adoption features, pet display modules, and form
functionalities are built using appropriate technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript,
and backend systems if needed. The design blueprint is converted into a functional
platform, integrating all required features and components.
• Testing: After development, the system undergoes thorough testing to ensure it works
correctly and meets the specified requirements. Functional testing, usability testing,
performance testing, and bug fixing are carried out to eliminate errors and improve
system reliability. This phase ensures that the website is stable, user-friendly, and ready
for real-world use.
• Deployment: Once the system passes all testing phases, it is deployed to a live server for
public access. This includes configuring hosting, uploading files, and ensuring the system
runs smoothly online. Post-deployment monitoring is conducted to address any issues that
may arise and to ensure the website functions as expected for all users.
4.1 Requirement Identification
Requirement Identification is the process of defining what the system must deliver to fulfill
the needs of the NGO, adopters, and other stakeholders. For the Pet Adoption Website, the
requirements are categorized into functional requirements such as pet listing, adoption
requests, and user interaction and non-functional requirements, including security, usability,
performance, and reliability. This phase ensures that the system’s features and quality
expectations are clearly understood before development begins.
4.1.1 Functional Requirements:
• The system must allow users to view available pets, along with details such as name, age,
breed, health status, and image.
• Users should be able to select a pet for adoption and proceed to an adoption form that
automatically displays the selected pet’s details.
• The system must allow users to fill and submit an adoption form, including their name,
address, contact information, and expected arrival time at the NGO.
• NGO administrators should be able to manage pet listings, including adding new pets,
updating their details, and removing adopted or unavailable pets.
• The system should provide a way for users to contact the NGO for inquiries, support, or
additional information.

4.1.2 Non-Functional Requirements:
1. Availability
The system should be accessible to users at all times with minimal downtime, ensuring
that pet listings and adoption services remain consistently available.
2. Reliability
The website must perform its functions accurately and consistently without failure,
ensuring smooth browsing, form submission, and data handling.
3. Security
The system must protect user information such as contact details and adoption data
through secure storage, encrypted communication, and restricted access.
4. Usability
The interface should be simple, intuitive, and easy to navigate so users can browse pets,
view details, and fill out adoption forms without difficulty.
5. Literature Review
With the increasing use of digital platforms, many animal welfare organizations and NGOs
have shifted to web-based systems to manage pet adoption, showcase rescued animals, and
connect with potential adopters. However, many existing pet adoption websites still lack
modern user interface designs, real-time updates, or proper communication channels for
users. The proposed Pet Adoption Website aims to create a clean, responsive, and user-
friendly platform where visitors can view adoptable pets, learn about the NGO, and submit
adoption requests easily. Key features include pet listings, adoption forms, gallery sections,
support information, and contact details for direct communication.
In [1], Sharma & Koirala emphasized the importance of digital adoption platforms for animal
welfare organizations. Their study found that well-designed adoption systems increase the
chances of rehoming rescued animals by improving information accessibility and reducing
communication delays between NGOs and adopters. This supports the goal of creating a
centralized and efficient digital platform for pet adoption.
In [2], Tamang highlighted the challenges faced by users when browsing outdated or
incomplete animal adoption websites in Nepal. Poor navigation, lack of responsiveness, and
irregular updates were identified as primary issues. The proposed system addresses these
challenges by offering a responsive layout, updated pet information, and smooth navigation.
In [3], Gurung analyzed user engagement in online adoption systems and found that detailed
pet profiles—such as age, breed, medical history, and pictures—significantly enhance user
decision-making. This aligns with the project’s goal of displaying clear and complete
information for each adoptable pet.
In [4], Maharjan & Shrestha studied the role of digital communication tools in increasing
adoption rates. Their research concludes that platforms with real-time inquiry and contact
features help reduce gaps between NGOs and potential adopters. The proposed website
incorporates a direct contact/support page to fulfill this requirement.
In [5], Singh explored the benefits of online form systems for NGOs. The study revealed that
adoption forms submitted through websites are easier to process, store, and verify compared
to paper-based systems. This supports the inclusion of an online adoption form where users
submit their details when selecting a pet.
In [6], Basnet examined the significance of photo galleries in animal welfare websites. High-
quality images of rescued animals were found to improve user interest and emotional
engagement, leading to higher adoption rates. Based on these findings, the Pet Adoption
Website includes a well-organized gallery section.
In [7], Rai & Limbu emphasized the need for mobile-friendly design in adoption platforms.
Their research showed that most users access NGO services through smartphones. Therefore,
the proposed website is designed to be fully responsive across all devices.
Collectively, these studies highlight the necessity of creating a modern, accessible, and
reliable online platform for animal adoption. By focusing on responsiveness, updated
information, user engagement, and streamlined communication, the proposed Pet Adoption
Website aims to support the NGO in improving adoption rates and enhancing its outreach.
