According to the video, HRD is a set of systematic and planned activities designed by an
organisation to provide its members with the opportunities to learn necessary skills to meet
current and future job demands
The objectives of HRD are,
a) To provide employers with opportunities to learn from their superiors through
consultations and performance interviews
b) Secondly, to develop motivational policies for attracting and retaining talented
employees.
2. Explain any four functions of Human Resource Development in an organization.
Training and Development
This usually involves employee orientation and skills training of a new employee who joins an
organization. They include employee orientation and skills and technical training programs..
Organizational Development
This is the process of enhancing the effectiveness of an organisation and well- being of its
members through planned interventions. Its main objective is to b ring out planned change that
leads to a higher quality of work life, productivity and effectiveness. It focuses on Macro and
Micro Organizational changes
Career planning and development
This assists employees to develop realistic career plans so they take the necessary steps to
achieve the career plans. This is a responsibility of both the employees and the organization.
Then organization provides the employees the opportunities to advance career wise and the
employees take an active interest in implementing the organization’s needs
