b. What is single mode fiber in terms of V-number? Calculate core radius 5 3,4,5 2
required for single mode operation of the fiber if its acceptance angle is 20o
and operating wavelength is 1.3 µm.
c. The critical angle of optical fiber is 80o and cladding refractive index is 1.42. 5 3,4,5 2
Calculate numerical aperture of the fiber, acceptance angle, Fractional index
difference, velocity of light in core and cladding regions, angle of acceptance
cone of the fiber.
