Class 10 Science Practical File (Part 1)
1. pH of Samples
Aim: To determine the pH of given samples using pH paper.
Materials: pH paper, HCl, NaOH, ethanoic acid, lemon juice, water, sodium hydrogen carbonate.
Procedure: Test each sample with pH paper and compare the colour with chart.
Observation: Acids show low pH, base high pH, water pH 7.
Result: pH identified.
Precautions: Use clean dropper.
2. Types of Chemical Reactions
Aim: To identify combination, decomposition, displacement and double displacement reactions.
Materials: Chemicals as prescribed.
Procedure: Perform reactions carefully and note changes.
Observation: Heat, colour change or precipitate observed.
Result: Reactions classified.
Precautions: Wear safety gear.
3. Reactivity Series
Aim: To compare reactivity of Zn, Fe, Cu and Al.
Materials: Metal strips and salt solutions.
Procedure: Dip metals in respective salt solutions and observe.
Observation: More reactive metal displaces less reactive metal.
Result: Al > Zn > Fe > Cu.
Precautions: Clean metal strips.
4. Ohm's Law
Aim: To study V-I relation and determine resistance.
Materials: Battery, resistor, ammeter, voltmeter.
Procedure: Record V and I for different readings and plot graph.
Observation: V is directly proportional to I.
Result: Ohm's law verified.
Precautions: Check connections.
